How do I get a visa to study in Turkey?

Obtaining a student visa before leaving your home country is a requirement for formal registration as a student at a Turkish university.

Therefore, students who come to Turkey without a student visa will not be able to register as a student at the university or receive a residence permit once in the country.

Student visas must be obtained at a Turkish consulate, usually the one closest to your place of residence in the country of your nationality. Student visas CANNOT be issued from within Turkey.

You must bring or mail a copy of your “Acceptance Letter” from a Turkish university and a completed visa application form to the relevant Turkish Consulate. Consulate staff can provide you with an application form upon request.

Please note that it usually takes around eight weeks from the time you submit your application to the time you receive your visa. The student visa will be stamped in your passport.

Although a time limit will be indicated on your visa, your student visa will remain valid as long as you are enrolled in school.

The application form must be submitted to the university/college before the last date mentioned by the institute. The application form must have some educational documents attached like:
