Goi Peace Foundation under the auspices of the Japan Private High School Federation Metropolitan Board of Education, Ministry of Education, Japan Broadcasting Corporation, Science and Technology of Japan National Commission of UNESCO, and Nikkei Inc offers the Essay Contest for 2023 intended for the International Young People.

The annual essay contest is coordinated with the end goal to bridle the energy, imagination, and drive of the world’s youth in advancing a culture of harmony and sustainable development. “Youth Developing a Peaceful Future”

Essay Format

Essay Guidelines 

  • The essay entries must be submitted online, and the applicants must be registered online at the online registration page of the provider and must follow the submission process. The entries submitted by mail or email will not be qualified.
  • Youth directors and teachers may submit a collection of the students or class essay groups by creating an organization/school entrant at the online page registration.
  • One entry per individual will be accepted.
  • The essay submitted must be unpublished or original. Plagiarized entries will be automatically rejected.
  • By presenting your essay, you allow to the coordinator to distribute it in any medium. Ownership and Responsibility for the essay stay with the contestant.

Registration Process for Essay Submission 

  • Before submitting the essay, it is important to read the guideline thoroughly.
  • Make your essay file in either MS Word (DOC/DOCX) or PDF format. Your essay size should be 2MB or less.
  • Your essay should be composed, with your name and essay title at the top of the primary page.
  • Go to either the “Individual” or “School/Association” Contestant Enlistment page.
  • After entering all necessary data, click the “SUBMIT” button at the lower part of the page to make an account.
  • At the point when your account is effectively made, you will be naturally signed in to “My Account”.
  • For “INDIVIDUAL”: In “My Account”, click “Add Essay” as an afterthought menu, join your essay by choosing the document on your PC, and snap “SUBMIT”. Note on registration 

  • Everyone can submit their essay whatever country they are in and when the essay is done.
  • It is important to check the deadline for the essay submission, the foundation recommends that the essay should be submitted as early as possible to avoid difficulties accessing the website registration page.
  • There is no fee for in participating the contest.
  • All nationalities around the world can participate.
  • A cover page will not be required for the essay.
  • The essay title can be replaced as long as it is in line with the essay theme.
  • Certificate of Participation can be downloaded from the registration page once it is available.

  • 1st Prize- 100,000 Yen or approximately $740 US Dollars, Gift, and Certificates
  • 2nd Prize-  50,000 Yen approximately US$370, Gift and Certificates
  • 3rd Prize- Gifts and Certificates
  • Honorable Mention- Certificates and Gifts

Additional awards may be given. All winners will be announced by October 31, 2023. All Certificates and Gifts will be mailed by December 2023.

Application Deadline

The deadline to complete and submit the essay is until June 15, 2023.
