The University of the West of Scotland became a public university that has main campuses but four prime areas within the southwest of Scotland.

The original establishment can be traced back to the late 19th century. The university has undergone numerous name changes as well as building mergers over the last 100 years.

With over 100 programs and degrees available, there are a high number of doctoral students as well as a general big population of doctorate degree students. The University of the West of Scotland is known for there extended graduating class that holds a number of scientists, doctors, and lawyers.

This scholarship is strictly for postgraduate students that have already completed a lower-level year at this exact university. Students cannot trade off a lower-level year at another institution and still receive this opportunity.

Eligibility

  • Applicants interested in these scholarships must have completed at least one full academic year of study at this university.
  • International students are the primarily welcomed student body population and priority for this scholarship. Domestic students will be considered last on the list.
  • Students must self-fund the rest of their tuition, if they can show and pay off the rest of tuition early they will be awarded this scholarship option.
  • Students must have a great grade point average as well as no lengthy missed attendance or intention of taking a gap year.
  • The applicant must be a full-time student at the university, part-time students are not eligible.
  • Applicants do not need to be a certain age when applying.
  • All students must present all prior grades and transcripts, this is necessary.

Requirements

A huge requirement is that applicants must have 1 full academic year (must have passed each subject course/program as well) completed. If they do not, they are immediately deemed non-eligible for this scholarship option.

A student has to have a number of college years already completed to be considered a postgraduate.

The University of the West of Scotland is an extremely competitive university that only accepts and seeks to excel the best of the best when it comes to students. If a student is not already pushing themselves towards greatness, then this college will certainly do just that.

How to Apply

This is an automatic award, which means that once a student sends in their application there will be an immediate recognition of which students fit the eligibility and those student’s will be graciously rewarded with a 10% tuition discount.

First off, since this is for postgraduate students, they must have the prior studies available. This means that the postgraduates applying must have a minimum of one year completed at this Scottish university. If not they are not deemed a proper fit for the scholarship.

Students that are taking programs in one of these faculty schools from one of the four campuses are deemed eligible to apply:

  • School of Business and Creative Industries
  • School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences
  • School of Education and Social Sciences
  • School of Health and Life Sciences

Reward – Extra Benefits

The reward for this wonderful opportunity is that of receiving a 10% off discount on this universities tuition. Scotland does have one of the higher tuition fees in Europe, but a 10% discount can easily take off around $10,000. That is if the student decides to pursue a bachelor’s degree which is equal to 4-years of a college career.

Deadline Time Line

The official deadline of this scholarship is the first semester day. That means the first day of Spring classes, a student should show a receipt to admissions to qualify that they have paid the 90% of their tuition to be eligible and automatically rewarded the 10% discount.

There is no mention of an extension window option however, students can always contact admissions or the provided e-mail in the contact section to ask. While extensions are not looked down upon that could take down the 10% to 5%.

Open Submission Window Time Frame

All applicants who are interested in this option, should pay off their annual tuition 90% cost immediately. Essentially, the quicker the student shows that they are self-funding their tuition the quicker they can receive this automatic tuition discount.

Also, students can be eligible to additional discounts such as equipment fees or any potentially accommodation fees that ma pop up. However, the student should contact admissions to further explore those options.

Annual and Renewable Scholarship Options

This is an annual scholarship award that is given to many students each year. Without a doubt this is not a renewable scholarship but students should look for more available scholarship o the university website to apply towards. If a student is deemed non-elgible that student can still apply for other scholarships.

Here at Pick a Scholarship we offer a full range scholarship database for all students looking for varying degree levels. While we provide exact information for each scholarship application and when the deadlines/open submission windows are held. We offer a contact section on each post where the admissions of the university or the director of a private sponsor can be reached to give more information or details.
