Eligibility
- For this scholarship the student simply has to be the child of the Boston-based Houghton-Mifflin Company. This means all steps, adopted, and biological children will be accepted.
- In this case, this means that technically the child can be of any national background as well. Just as long as their family member works at the Houghton-Mifflin company.
- Both male and female students are accepted.
- It is considered that only first year students should apply for this scholarship option.
- This scholarship is available to an undergraduate student.
Requirements
The biggest and most important requirement is that the student must have a parent or guardian that works with the company Houghton-Mifflin which is based out of the city of Boston.
Houghton-Mifflin is a book publishing company that has gone through a few turnover’s of CEO’s but has maintained its originality by stay true to publishing.
Now the student can either have a parent, step-parent, or be adopted by an individual who works their that is their intended guardian to be considered for this scholarship option.
The other main requirement is to follow the guidelines for sending in the admissions form to Columbia University. Which involves having excellent grades, sending transcripts, showing AP classes which provide college credits, and be academically inclined.

Reward – Extra Benefits
This is a scholarship that has a set reward amount of an automatic $1,000 USD. But this reward can also increase as the years go by. So technically, this is an award that can become a higher reward amount as long as the student is on this scholarship.
Deadline Time Line
This scholarship can be applied to either of the 4 deadlines that are active throughout the entire year.
Fall Semester 2022 – The deadline was June 2022
Winter Semester 2023 – The deadline is November 15, 2022
Summer Semester 2023 – The deadline is March 15, 2023
Fall Semester 2023 – The deadline is June 30, 2023
Students can pick one of these semesters to send in their Columbia University application with this scholarship option together.
Open Submission Window Time Frame
