About the Scholarship

The University of Waikato initiated a scholarship in 2004, The Michael Baldwin Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship aims to commemorate the memory of Michael Baldwin who has served as one of the dedicated staff members until his passing in 2003. Prior to his tenure at the University of Waikato, Michael had a significant teaching career in Papua New Guinea, and he contributed significantly to the educational journey, at the institution known as the University of Goroka.

This scholarship is a tribute to Mr. Baldwin’s commitment as an educator and his sincere dedication to supporting others in their educational pursuits. Its establishment was made possible through the generous contribution of the Baldwin family.
