About the Scholarship:
The University of Idaho is a land-grant research university that is owned by the state of Idaho. It was founded in 1889 by the regional legislature and served as the state’s sole university for 71 years, until 1963. The institute began classes in 1892 with 40 students. It is now one of the best research institutions in Idaho, as well as a significant educational center. Under APLU accreditation, the institution confers doctoral, master’s, bachelor’s, and specialist degrees. It has an NCAA Division I sports affiliation, which allows the University of Idaho’s Idaho Vandals to compete in the Big Sky Conference.
The main campus of the University of Idaho is located in the rolling Palouse hills of Idaho, near Moscow. The university campus is 1,585 acres in size and includes academic buildings, a library, parking lots, bike paths, farms, an 18-hole golf course, and arboreta. The Memorial Gymnasium, Student Recreation Center, Bruce M. Pitman Center, and Administration Building are among the 253 buildings on campus. The Idaho Commons is located in the heart of campus and houses the study area, food court, Einstein’s Bagels and Coffee Shop, copy center, convenience store, and credit union. The Kibbie Dome, the university’s multi-purpose hall, serves as a venue for tennis, basketball, football, and indoor tracks.
The campus is a massive 1600 acres, which is a good thing because there is nothing else in the ‘city’ of Moscow besides the University of Idaho. The majority of the buildings are quite old and appear to be in need of repair, but the interiors (classrooms, laboratories, and washrooms) are in good condition. There is a cutting-edge athletics center as well as a students’ recreation center that everyone can use. The library system is quite good; you won’t hear students complaining about a lack of books, presumably because there aren’t any. One disadvantage of the college is that there isn’t much to do for entertainment – no bars, and the recreation center isn’t great either. In terms of living arrangements, there are several options. There are students who live in dorms, but they are outnumbered by those who live off-campus. Rents in Moscow are quite low due to the city’s small size, but you must search for houses well in advance. It’s also a good idea to have a couple of roommates, not only to split the rent, but also to pass the time in a lonely place.
Admission to the University of Idaho is competitive, with a 74% acceptance rate. Half of the applicants admitted to the University of Idaho have SAT scores ranging from 990 to 1220 or an ACT score ranging from 20 to 26. However, one-quarter of admitted applicants received scores that were higher than these ranges, while the other quarter received scores that were lower. The University of Idaho provides a variety of student services, such as nonremedial tutoring, a women’s center, placement services, day care, health services, and health insurance. The University of Idaho also provides 24-hour foot and vehicle patrols, late-night transport/escort service, 24-hour emergency telephones, lighted pathways/sidewalks, and controlled dormitory access (key, security card, etc.). Students of legal drinking age are not permitted to consume alcohol at the University of Idaho.
