Scholarship details
The John Kinghorn Scholarship is available to applicants interested in pursuing a Master’s degree in Engineering at Sussex. While there are three scholarships available, one of them is reserved for a female applicant in order to encourage women to pursue STEM degrees.
About the Scholarship:
The University of Sussex was established in 1961 and is based in Brighton, England’s south coast. It is the only university in the United Kingdom that is situated within a National Park. Times Higher Education has ranked the University of Sussex as the 160th best university in the world, with a number of subjects in the top 100, including business and economics, social sciences, psychology, and law. According to the National Student Survey, 82 percent of Sussex students are satisfied with their education and city life, while Brighton was named the happiest city in England for students, with 93 percent of University of Sussex and University of Brighton students saying they are’very satisfied’ with their education and city life. Sussex is known for its research, with Nobel Laureates and Royal Society and British Academy Fellows among its faculty. The main campus of the university has just completed a major £100 million redevelopment, adding more facilities to accommodate the growing student population. Sussex’s research profile has been boosted by recent investments, including the establishment of institutes for the study of consciousness science, corruption, and Middle Eastern studies. Sussex is ranked fourth in the United Kingdom in terms of research influence. Sussex is ranked highly in league tables across the world and was awarded Silver in the Teaching Excellence Framework. The University was praised for the high percentage of Sussex students from all backgrounds who complete their courses and go on to highly skilled jobs or further education. Students at Sussex are also pleased, with an 82 percent satisfaction rating in the most recent National Student Survey. During their first year of study, all international students at the University of Sussex are guaranteed university-owned housing. There are currently 5,500 available rooms, the majority of which are on campus, with a few student houses in Brighton. All lodging is self-catering, with the majority of rooms being en suite. Shared rooms are also available. Off-campus housing is served by a regular bus service to and from campus, and the Student Union can also assist students in finding private rented housing. It also has a faculty that includes Nobel Laureates, members of the British Academy, and a winner of the prestigious Crafoord Prize. In Brighton, music is a way of life. You must have been offered and accepted a full-time Engineering degree beginning in September 2022 to be eligible for this scholarship.
