To support the International Women who are into sports or athletes, Teesside University offers the Beth Mead Scholarship for four female football students who want to pursue their undergraduate and graduate program along with continuing their football training. The successful students who will be awarded the scholarship can undertake their undergraduate or postgraduate education in any eligible courses offered by the university.

This scholarship is great news and will provide more opportunities and support to enable footballers in the region to develop and reach their full potential. Beth Mead International Scholarship

The Beth Mead International Scholarship created by Teesside University is in partnership with Beth Mead and the Arsenal Women and England Football players and BA Sports Developments graduates at the university.

The university wants to extend its appreciation to Beth Mead for the scholarship support and will be awarded four scholarships to the eligible international women in sport for the academic year of 2022-2023, with a total value of £1,200 each during the duration of their courses at the Teesside University.

Beth Mead is an active ambassador of the scholarship and she will be supporting the scholars by giving mentors three times a week. This support is available to athletes undergoing an open enrollment process all of who have the potential to develop and enhance Teesside University’s reputation through international sporting achievements.

Beth graduated from Teesside University in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in sports development and was part of an elite athletic program that helped her achieve her sporting goals.

After graduating, Beth achieved phenomenal success as a professional player for Sunderland before joining Arsenal where she currently plays. The striker is a member of the national team and will represent England at the 2019 Women’s World Cup. She was also named the 2016 PFA Young Player of the Year.

Eligibility 

Before proceeding with the application, interested students must meet the eligibility criteria of the scholarship below:

• Must be an International or local student.
• A woman into sports specifically football.
• The students must be able to contribute to sports positivity at the university through an international level of sports performance.
• Interested applicants must be able to achieve a place on the offer at the university successfully and be able to commence their higher education for the academic year of 2022-2023.
• Undergraduate and postgraduate students are eligible to apply for any eligible courses offered by the university.

Application Process

Application for the scholarship is now open and the interested eligible students can access the application through an online portal provided by Teesside University. Fours scholarship numbers will be available the scholarship is on a first come first serve basis only.

The application must be able to complete and submitted before the deadline. The places offered are only limited and the panel of senior staff of the university will be reviewing all the applications and the award will be assessed on the strength of the submitted information of the applicants on the application form. Meeting all the criteria will not guarantee the students that they will be receiving the awards, however, all scholarship applications will be subject to the successful admission of the candidates in any eligible chosen courses the students.

Application Notification 

The successful applicants will be notified after the deadline period of application at the latest four weeks but will not be able to receive the scholarship awards unless they are successfully admitted to Teesside University.

Scholarship Deadline 

The deadline to complete and submit the scholarship application is until August 31, 2022. The commencement will start in September 2022.

Late and incomplete applications will not be considered.
