About the Scholarship:
Robert Gordon University, or RGU for short, is an open university. It came from Robert Gordon’s educational institution, which he founded in the 18th century. In 1992, the educational institution was granted university status. It is one of two higher education institutes in Aberdeen, Scotland. Garthdee Campus is located in the city’s south-west corner, in a delightfully big parkland near to the River Dee. This campus houses all of the university’s academic departments. The campus, which is known for its contemporary architecture, is home to teaching and research operations. There are 11 schools in the university. Each school is overseen by a principal and separated into educational departments. The institution has various administrative divisions that support academic and cultural activities in addition to academic sections. The university now has around 16,000 students enrolled. Around 11,000 students applied for undergraduate programs and 5,000 individuals applied for postgraduate courses out of this total. The university offers a variety of degrees ranging from BSc through Ph.D. levels in a variety of subjects, including technology, the arts, health care, and business. Aside from that, the university uses its virtual learning skills to provide distance learning services. Furthermore, university staff members assist students in producing great research work. The university has a student union that assists the student community and seeks to improve the university experience. The campus’s sports department offers students and the general public a variety of fitness and sports services. The Gatehouse, the University’s design and print consultant, serves academic and support departments, as well as students and commercial enterprises, with all design and print-related services.
With over 16,000 students from over 132 countries, RGU is an innovative, accessible, influential, and professionally minded institution. RGU’s applied learning, current course content, industry-centric orientation, and state-of-the-art facilities ensure that their graduates are ready to work when they graduate. The University has been designated as a Gold Standard institution by the Teaching Excellence Framework, putting them in the top 20% of the finest universities in the UK for teaching, learning, support, and graduate employability. During courses, students will learn in purpose-built and sophisticated facilities, and outside of lectures, they will rest in the calm countryside.
When it comes to providing students with work prospects, the university has a strong reputation. It also ranks highly among the country’s universities in terms of giving employment to graduates or students continuing postgraduate studies six months after graduation. It also has a large alumni network around the country. Gordon Duthie (musician, singer, and songwriter), Maxwell Hutchinson (broadcaster, architect, and guitarist), Ola Gorie (jewelry designer), Eilidh Middleton (equestrian competitor), Hannah Miley (Olympian and swimmer), Frank Chapman (businessman), and Titi Horsfall are just a few of the notable alumni (author). The University’s superior graduate employment record demonstrates its commitment to professional education. It has repeatedly been ranked as having the best graduating prospects of any university in recent years, and it continues to rank first among modern universities. Strong ties with industry, particularly North Sea gas and oil corporations, and year-long work internships, which have become customary across all degrees, help to achieve this. Students who meet the academic criteria but not the English language requirements can enroll in an eight-week pre-sessional English program to improve their English skills. During the school year, English language sessions are given to assist students. These services include general group classes as well as one-on-one assistance.
Robert Gordon University has around 1,500 student housing spots available, and first-year students are guaranteed housing. The rooms are distributed among both campuses, with the farthest being only a 25-minute walk away, and a bus service connects the two. Many of the rooms have en-suite bathrooms, and studio apartments are also available. Students can also seek alternate housing in private halls of residence or apartments through the university. Aberdeen, with a population of over 220,000 people, is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city. It has a diverse cultural offering, including museums, art galleries, cinemas, and concert venues. There are five shopping malls (including the brand new Union Square mall) with a diverse selection of well-known stores and boutiques. There are other shops offering locally manufactured goods and an international street market that takes place at various times throughout the year. The Council, event partners, and the community organize hundreds of local events.
