This scholarship is in accordance with the Association of Washington D.C., Inc. and Trinidad and Tobago University. This scholarship is strictly for students that are originally from Trinidad and Tobago but have become legal citizens of the United States of America. This scholarship is to aid in any need-based funding that the students may need to continue their higher education.

There is a set of awards attached to this scholarship option that involves:

  • An undergraduate student at a 4-year college can receive $1,500
  • Two sets of $600 awards that will go towards the Mavis Barnes Cultural scholarship which looks for either high school seniors or first-year freshmen that are pursuing cultural programs
  • Any student that enrolls in a graduate program for $1,500

And other awards that fit certain aspects for applying students.

 

Eligibility

  • Students must be legal residents of the united states and no older than 18 years of age.
  • Students must be a U.S. citizens while also originally from Trinidad and Tobago.
  • The student’s eligibility will be based on their grade point average.
  • Academic awards or honors will need to be mentioned while applying for this scholarship opportunity.
  • Students must either be already enrolled into an accredited college or have recently received their accepted letter to a college before applying.
  • If the student does not respond to all of the questions on the application form then they will be disqualified from the entry of this scholarship option.

 

Requirements

This scholarship is available for students to transfer between institutions. Such as the Trinidad and Tobago University to a United State college or to Trinidad and Tobago.

A minimum grade point average of 3.0 is required within the 4.0 grading scale. The higher the grade point average the better chance the student has of receiving a scholarship award from this opportunity.

 

How to Apply

When it comes to applying for this scholarship, through the original link that is attached to this article, students will find the download link to the application.

All students need to do is download the scholarship form and fill it out via online through Adobe. Through this option students will be able to email it to this email address: [email protected].

Emailing in the scholarship application is the only way to submit this scholarship application. There is no other way.

There is an essay portion on the scholarship application. This essay asks about the activities and interests of the student which will require at least 500 words.

What will appear on the scholarship form includes, current name, current address, phone number, e-mail address, place of birth, and providing names of relatives that are from of live in Trinidad and Tobago.

Educational information will be needed on the scholarship application form as well. Such as graduation date, address and name of the school. Along with the institution the student is planning on attending and all of that necessary information. So the association can contact the university to ensure that the award amount can be sent to the students college bank account.

With there many many sets of awards that have  variety of $600 to $1,500 in total value, students will need to figure out where they fit in with level eligibility (new student, recent high school graduate or graduate college student) to be sure which award set they are eligible for.

Depending on what the student has already paid in fees to the institutions they are enrolled in, these scholarship awards can be applied towards tuition fees, books, equipment fees, accommodation fees and anything else that may need to be paid off.

The official deadline is not mentioned which means this is an open ended scholarship. Where there is no official deadline timeline since the association works with each accredited university or institution that the student may attend.

 

Open Submission Window Time Frame

For the open submission window time frame, there is a constant open window time frame and students may send in their scholarship application at any time. Since this is such a highly restricted scholarship towards individuals from Trinidad and Tobago, who have become legal residents of the United States. There is currently not a high roll of competitive for this scholarship option.
