Scholarship details
The Centro Einaudi with the support of Fondazione CRT launches the Giorgio Rota Best Paper Award. Young researchers are invited to submit papers on the subject: Rural economies, evolutionary dynamics, and new paradigms.
Fondazione CRT is a private non–profit organization founded in 1991. For 30 years, it has been one of the “engines” of development and growth in the north of Italy in three main areas: Art and Culture, Research & Education, Welfare, and Territory. It implements projects and resources in the promotion of the arts and cultural activities, the promotion of scientific research and training for young people, support for innovation and social entrepreneurship, assistance to people in need, the preservation of the environment, and civil protection and first response systems.
Eligibility & Requirements
Topics of interest thus include:
- local and global restructuring of the rural economy
- the economy of the mountain areas
- rural capitalism and finance
- the mountain-rural-urban divide
- rural-urban relationships and flows
- strengths and weaknesses of the rural firm
- environmental policies and the payments for ecosystemic services
- self-help and self-determination in the rural communities
- the political representation of the rural areas
- protection and development of rural villages
This GIORGIO ROTA Best Paper Scholarship Award is open to researchers born after December 31st, 1986 who have obtained a university graduate qualification (BA, MA, or Ph.D.) in the fields of economics, geography, sociology, political science, or other social sciences.
How to Apply
Only high–quality articles providing original insights with respect to the existing literature will be considered. An award committee will select the papers on the basis of the applicants following the correct rules.

Reward
The authors of the three best papers will be awarded a prize of 1.500 Euros (gross) per paper and they will be invited to present their work at the Giorgio Rota Conference that will be organized in May 2021 in Turin in the presence or by webinar.

March 15, 2022, is the next deadline. The deadline for 2021 has already passed. This is an annual scholarship and up to 3 individuals can win at a time.
