To honor the legacy of Cory L. Richards, Guttmacher Institute sponsored a scholarship annually that is intended for the students who are in a part-time or full-time graduate program for the academic year of 2022-2023. Local and international students are encouraged to apply for the scholarship program with a total value of $15,000.
Scholarship Overview
The Corey L. Richards Memorial Scholarship was sponsored by the Guttmacher Institute, to support the emerging leaders in sexual and reproductive health and rights. Founded in 2014 in honor of Corey L. Richards, a field leader whose distinguished career at the Gutmacher Institute spanned nearly four decades, the scholarship will reflect its core commitment: promoting the development of new leaders.
It does this by providing financial support to outstanding students who intend to devote their careers to advancing public policy relating to sexual and reproductive health and rights and who are pursuing advanced degrees in public health or public policy.
The scholarship is an annual offer that will award to up to two students and will be receiving a total value of $15,000 individually that can support their part-time or full-time program at the institute. The scholarship priority is those students who have the eagerness to further their education and can demonstrate their financial needs.

Scholarship Eligibility
To be able to apply for the scholarship, students must check the eligibility of the scholarship.
- Interested applicants must be enrolled or currently enrolled in a part-time or full-time master’s degree program at any of the accredited universities in the United States for the academic year of 2022-2023.
- Must be in the field of study in public health or public policy for the master’s degree program.
- Must have a career plan on pursuing advancement in public health related to reproductive health and rights.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 or equivalent.
- Applicants of all races, colors, gender, creed, religion, sexual orientations, disabilities, nationalities wil are considered to apply for the scholarship.
For the past recipient of the scholarship award, as long as the eligibility requirements are met, they can re-apply for the awards.
Application Process
Interested applicants can apply for the online portal provided by the institute. the applicants must be able to register and create an account. Creating an account requires giving all the information needed for the scholarship application. The registered email will be used towards the notification of the results of the scholarship application.
The application will require certain material that will be supporting your scholarship application. Keep in mind that all given en information will be verified by the scholarship committee, the material will be reviewed.
Late and incomplete scholarship applications will not be considered, however, students can re-apply for the next application opening date.

The essay will outline the applicant’s personal statement and answer to the application question.
The applicants who will be shortlisted for the awards will be asked to submit the following:

Scholarship Selection
The selection process of the scholarship wil is based on the reviewed material provided by the applicants. The scholarship committee wil be reviewing the following:
- Students academic merit
- Received honors or certificates
- Their relevant work experience
- and the outline of the essay
The scholarship application will be evaluated by the staff or scholarship committee of the Guttmacher Institute. The evaluation for the scholarship and results will be final. Short-listed students are required to submit a letter of recommendation, it is important to wait for the scholarship announcement of the finalist before submitting.
Successful students will be notified through their provided email once result was finalized.

Since 2014, the institute offers the Cory L. Richards Memorial Scholarship the provides a total value of $15,000 to successful students.
The scholarship wants to nurture every individual’s career development by providing financial support to cover their tuition fee expenses.
Two deserving students will be awarded for the academic year of 2022-2023 that can help them with their education costs and other related fees in any accredited college or university in the USA.

The deadline to complete and submit the applciation form is until May 15, 2022, at 3 pm CT.
The past recipient of the awards can re-apply for the scholarship program. The scholarship is non-renewable however it will be offered annually by the Guttmacher Institute.
The payment for the award will be sent directly to the student’s account by August of 2022.
