Scholarship details
Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences is an open University of Applied Sciences, owned by a foundation run by Helsinki’s business community. This Institution is fully supervised and accredited by the Finnish government through the Ministry of Education and Culture. The school’s primary facilities are in Pasila, Helsinki. It has other premises in Haaga, Malmi, and in Porvoo and Vierumaki.
Haaga-Helia offers courses in business, information technology, sport and leisure education, hospitality, tourism, management assistant education, vocational teacher education programs, journalism, marketing, and languages. It has about 10,500 students and about 630 employees, of whom nearly 400 are full-time teachers.
Helia’s Research and Business Development Centre is producing training services for associations and companies. The training is tailored to meet the needs of the individual company by a variety of short-term courses and longer programs for business operations development, sales training, and IT training. The majority of the programs are executed in cooperation with customers.
Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences will charge a tuition fee from a student accepted to a degree program taught in English. EU/EEA area and Swiss citizens are not subject to the charge. The tuition fee includes teaching and access to the learning facilities and the student Library. As a student at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, they have access to Student Services and ICT services will also be at the student’s disposal to support their studies.
Eligibility
- Students can apply from one of the countries listed below.
- Domestic and international students are welcome to apply.
- Both male and female students can apply.
- There is no age restriction when applying.
- Any student with a previous criminal record cannot apply.
- If an international student outside of Switzerland and Finland, students will need to send in a photocopy of a scan of their countries passport.
- All students will need to send in a copy of the acceptance letter from the University of Haaga-Helia, to show that they are accepted as students for the 2022 year or have enrolled.
- Students must be studying business technology.

The only way a student is exempted from paying tuition fees is if they possess one or multiple items from this list:
- Passport or identity card to indicate the citizenship of EU/EEA/Switzerland
- EU Blue Card in Finland
- Continuous residence permit card in Finland, Type A permit
- EU Family Member’s Residence Card in Finland
- Permanent residence permit card in Finland, Type P permit
- EU residence permit for third-country citizens with long-term residence permit card in Finland (Type P-EU)
Requirements
It should be noted that 9,500.00 euros per academic year for Bachelor´s programs will need to be paid as the registration fee.
Haaga-Helia UAS will charge a tuition fee from a student accepted to any degree program taught in English. The tuition fee includes teaching and access to the learning facilities and the student Library. As a student at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, their students will have access to Student Services and ICT services will also be at their disposal to support all student studies.
A tuition fee is applicable if the student is not a citizen of a country of the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.
Finnish immigration service requires that each student has at least EUR 560 at their disposal every month to be able to pay for their accommodation, food, and other needs. So, in addition to the tuition fee, each student must have EUR 6,720 to be able to study in Finland for a year and to get a residence permit in Finland.
How to Apply
First off students must be studying business technology as they decide to earn their Bachelor’s in the field.
Students will need to first enroll in the program that states it is in fact “Business Technology” and wait to be enrolled. Afterward, students will be sent a scholarship application via student email.
From there the student will need to provide all of the information that is needed from them. Students should know that this is considered a partial scholarship which means students are required to have a certain amount of funds to pay for their tuition, fees, and living expenses.
Then a panel of judges will decide which students a responsible enough to earn this scholarship and will continue to pursue excellent academic grades.
This scholarship does not cover living expenses, healthcare, or room and board.
So students should use the link provided to select the program and then proceed to become an enrolled accepted student. This is the only way to ask for the scholarship that will be available applying and receiving and letter of acceptance.
Reward – Extra Benefits
An award amount of 1,700 Euros will be gifted to the student’s tuition for 4-years if they follow all of the rules and guidelines. Students can have this scholarship continuously renewed as long as they send in the correct scholarship renewal form.
Since students are considered that they will need to pay at least 80% of their own program, this scholarship program is available to those that may have financial obstacles.
Deadline
This deadline has not been officially confirmed because international students come from all over the world. When students apply for this scholarship they can ask for a general deadline timeline and request an extension to have all of their legal documents and official government papers in order.
Open Submission Time Frame
There is a general yearly open submission time frame for students to apply for this scholarship. However, students can ask for a scholarship application extension since all international students will need to send in a Student Visa to study in Finland.
Annual
This is an annual scholarship that picks four students each year to be the recipient of this award. This scholarship can also renew this scholarship up to four times, as long as, the student intends to attend for a 4-year duration. Otherwise, a student will only win for one year and receive the said amount of reward stated above.
