Only a recent Otago Education graduate with at least two years of teaching experience and plans to pursue graduate study in Education are eligible to receive the Scholarship. Within one month of the Scholarship’s issuance, the recipient must affirm that he or she plans to remain in the teaching profession in New Zealand when the Scholarship’s term ends.

About the Scholarship Provider:

The Otago Provincial Council created the University of Otago through an act in 1869. At its inception, the university was granted permission to award degrees in medicine, the arts, music, and law in addition to a hundred thousand acres of property. With only three professors, the university held its initial classes in the John Wickliffe House on Princess Street in July 1871. Otago Business School, the Department of Health Sciences, the Department of Humanities, and the Department of Sciences are the present divisions of the institution. The area is home to four distinct schools. The firm operates out of four locations throughout the country of New Zealand. The Otago Business School and the colleges of science, humanities, and health are all located on the Dunedin campus, which is also the university’s main site. The Christchurch School of Medicine and the Christchurch School of Health Sciences share a single potential building in Christchurch. On-campus education spans from kindergarten to grad school, and even online courses. The Wellington City Office is a distinct entity from the Wellington School of Medicine and Health Sciences, although it is closely associated with the school in terms of its responsibilities for recruitment, summer programs, alumnae interactions, professional development opportunities, and scientific inquiry.

Course descriptions, distance learning opportunities, and contact responsibilities for young students are all handled by the Auckland campus. Future educators can choose from a wide range of programs at Southland’s Invercargill campus. Master’s and doctoral degrees are available in numerous disciplines at the University of Otago. Some of these include business, economics, entrepreneurship, management, marketing, medicine, pharmacy, law, the arts, the social sciences, the natural sciences, zoology, botany, and computer science.

There are around 18,000 students and 4,000 instructors and staff at this school. The university lays a strong emphasis on providing its undergraduates with a worldwide perspective and the skills necessary to find jobs in other countries due to its large international student body and strong affiliations to a number of organizations functioning on the world stage. Sonia, the university’s placement program is made for students like you to get internships and work experience at respectable businesses so that you can get hired right after you graduate. The university boasts a substantial international alumni base, with over 100,000 graduates spread over 142 countries.

Some of the most influential people in contemporary American history are alumni of this school. One of the creators of the GoSkills online learning platform is Bhavneet Chahal. Hayden Paddon, a driver for the Hyundai squad in the World Rally Championship, has Katie Lane handling media relations. Dr. Maria Pozza was the first person in New Zealand to specialize in space law. Mark Orton has hosted episodes including “High Country Rescue” on New Zealand’s TVNZ and National Geographic, as well as on Discovery and Natural History New Zealand. He’s just recently gotten started on a bunch of Al Jazeera stuff. The alumni network is much more powerful than the current student body.

The University of Otago has been around longer than any other New Zealand university. After its humble beginnings in 1871 on a 100,000-acre tract of land with just three professors, the institution got financing to hire more faculty and provide more classes. In 1873 and 1875, respectively, the first legal and medical classes were held, and each year following that, new majors were introduced. In 1907, the world’s first dentistry school opened its doors to its first pupils, and in 1911, the world’s first “Home Science School” did the same. Since then, this university’s course selection has grown substantially.

Bachelor’s and master’s degree candidates from all over the world are enrolling at this university. In 2016, there were almost 20,000 new registrations, and every year since then, thousands more have applied. The Otago Provincial Council, in its present form, was established long after the founding of the institution. This institution has received glowing reviews for both its quality of instruction and the quality of its research. The academic achievements of its students have also contributed to the school’s reputation as one of New Zealand’s best. As indicated by its consistently excellent marks on the National Teaching Examination, it also boasts an unmatched track record of performance in the classroom.
