This first-year scholarship comes from the University of Nevada which is located in Reno, Nevada. As a matter of fact, the University of Nevada in Reno has many scholarships available that cater to both domestic students and international students looking to gain more funding to help cover their tuition costs.
Originally the university was founded in 1874 when the education building and the land were signed by President Abraham Lincoln. The Morrill Act of 1862 allowed this land to be gifted as an educational place for students.
The University of Nevada in Reno is simply a public research institution that is truly invested in helping students succeed and build a life-defining careers. The university had already invested a near $850 Million into the higher education school.

Eligibility
- Students can be pursuing any undergraduate major that they wish. There is no priority in that matter.
- Students must be from or a resident (does not have to be a U.S. citizen) that lives in the state of Nevada. A student that lives abroad and decides they wish to attend this university must first become a resident of the state.
- This general scholarship is strictly for first-year freshmen. That means second-year students and onwards are not applicable.
- Students applying will need to have filled out their financial aid package to receive additional funding options.
- This is a general and financial-based scholarship for students that are eligible.
Requirements
The first step is that high school transcripts will be needed when applying for this scholarship option. Applications to apply to the university end on February 1, 2023.
Then afterwards, the University’s Freshman Application for Scholarships needs to be sent in no later than February 15th, 2023. However, some students have stated that they have receives extensions for this so student should contact the university to inquire further.
Students will know when they have received admissions to the university when they receive their MyNEVADA account letter stating that the student is now enrolled and can make an account on the university campus.
How to Apply
The only way to apply is by applying for admission to the University of Nevada in Reno. This is the biggest step to pursue first. Afterwards, when students receive their student financial aid package they can then send in both or send in their FAFSA first.
Reward – Extra Benefits
The reward amount varies between an estimated $500 USD to $2,000 USD. There has been notification that this amount can increase or decrease depending on the student filling out their financial aid package.
Student Visa
A student visa will be appropriate for individuals that are not from the Untied States.
Deadline Time Line
Individuals will be notified by June 1, 2023 about whether or not that they have been selected to receive their scholarship. Typically, all freshmen students that need additional funding aid will be granted this scholarship.
Open Submission Window Time Frame
Students will be notified buy April 1, 2023 about the open submission window process of this scholarship. Both the financial aid and scholarship can be submitted together.
Annual or Renewable Scholarship Option
This is an annual scholarship that is gifted to eligible freshmen each year. However, this is not a renewable scholarship since their is a grade level restriction on this advantage.
