Scholarship details
Toronto Metropolitan University is known as a public research university where students from all over the world can apply to attend.
We will mention Ryerson University as well, why? Well, Ryerson was the original name for the Toronto Metropolitan University. And some of the school databases still have the name ‘Ryerson’ up as a navigation point. So we will refer to both of the university names as they are described on the original website.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be Canadian citizens or considered permanent residents. Otherwise, the student will be dismissed as not eligible over this major factor.
- Must be pursuing post-secondary studies – this means the student must have graduated from their senior year of high school.
- At least one personal letter outlining the reasons why the student would be a great fit for this opportunity.
- Students applying must have at least a great score of 85% from their high school years.
- This is a financial need scholarship where students will need to share that they are in fact in need of financial assistance.
- Students will need to curate a budget that shows the admissions office what funding will be needed for what, like tuition fees, books fees, equipment, accommodation, and etc.
Requirements
This is a financial assistant based scholarship that students will need to show why they need to have more financial options ready for their funding educational needs.
A reference letter will be required from the student, by a professional individual (such as a professor, teacher, or counselor).
The student must share that they have either completed volunteer work during their secondary education (high school education) or attended extracurricular activities.
A personal statement or letter is needed from the student applying to the Toronto Metropolitan University.
How to Apply
The only way to apply is by receiving an Ryerson University email account. But the only way to receive this email account is to become enrolled at Ryerson University. Now it may be a bit confusing as to why it’s Ryerson University and not Toronto Metropolitan University. Oddly enough some of the school databases have the prior name Ryerson University which was changed a while ago to the Toronto Metropolitan University.
So yes, it is still the same university just a different name change.
Reward – Extra Benefits
While this scholarship does vary in reward amount, up to $2,000 in CAD will be sent to the student’s college bank account which will then be forwarded to the student’s tuition amount. The $2,000 CAD does pay either near or even to half of that student’s complete annual tuition.
As long as the student is a Canadian citizen the college tuition is quite affordable. For international students it can be extremely expensive if that student has not secured any funding options or scholarship awards.
Deadline Time Line
February 1, 2023 is the deadline date for any students that want to be part of the Fall 2023 class. This is the deadline date to follow because the student has to become an enrolled student to then apply for this scholarship which is mentioned above.
Below we mention the option of having an extended deadline date. Now for different master’s and bachelor’s courses, there will be different dates. However, this scholarship is strictly for undergraduate students only. Any student that already has at least 1 year of undergraduate schooling completed is deemed ineligible for this scholarship option.
Open Submission Window Time Frame
The open submission date is anywhere from September 2022 to February 1, 2023. This is for all undergraduate, bachelors, masters, and post-doctorate degrees.
There is mention of students setting up an appointment with admissions to extend their deadline in case of family emergency or an emergency that is a considered “an allowed reason for extension.” Students will need to contact the head of admissions or the financial office to set up a meeting. This can be done by contacting the phone number listed in the contact section, or contacting through their social media pages which is also listed at the bottom or footer of each university page.
Annual or Renewable Scholarship Options
This is an annual scholarship option, but it is not a renewable option. A student as the progress through their college career will need to submit scholarship applications that fit with their grade level. This is depicted on the Toronto Metropolitan University original website link which is attached to this article.
Here at Pick a Scholarship we offer a full range scholarship database for all students looking for varying degree levels. While we provide exact information for each scholarship application and when the deadlines/open submission windows are held. We offer a contact section on each post where the admissions of the university or the director of a private sponsor can be reached to give more information or details.
All students should check with the university website about any delays or changes to the open submission window or deadline time frame. This is the best way to see if anything needs to be reviewed or changed before submitting their application.
