As a high school senior, one great thing that can happen to you after graduation is to get a scholarship to continue your studies. The George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation Scholarship application is open to you now and we will help you apply.
Each spring, the George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation offer seventy (70) scholarships to Houston area high school students for their undergraduate studies. The George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation Scholarships are open to student citizens of the United States.
The value is $20,000, and they will pay it over four years if the beneficiary meets the conditions outlined in the award. The beneficiary may choose a major at a four-year college or university in the United States.

About the George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation Scholarship
Under the direction of Mary Josephine Hamman, the Foundation was born on May 20, 1954.
The objective of the Foundation is to help students obtain higher education through scholarships; promote the arts; qualify finance institutions for the advancement and development of scientific projects; Attend churches, associations, and conventions of churches to promote religion.
In addition to helping colleges and universities meet their capital and operating needs; providing assistance to those in need; and assisting hospitals, medical schools, and research institutes in studying, treating, and curing diseases.
The Foundation has awarded $95.4 million in grants and scholarships during its 63 years of community service.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation Scholarship, applicants must meet all eligibility requirements:
- High school students after the start of their senior year.
- Houston high school seniors attending schools or homeschooling in the following eight districts: Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, or Waller.
- Students who are citizens of the United States. Students with permanent resident status are not eligible.
- To be eligible for the scholarship, you must have a minimum SAT composite score of 1000 (in the combined math and reading/writing portions), and/or an ACT composite score of 21.
- All SAT and/or ACT scores must be on the same test date.
- Do not apply before taking the SAT or ACT.
- Scholarships are awarded for academic and financial reasons.

How to Apply for the George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation Scholarship 2024
Scholarship applications may be submitted during a student’s senior year of high school. Students can complete scholarship forms online (see link below) after September 15 of their senior year.
If you do not have access to a computer, you may request (by writing to the address below) that an application be sent to you.

Deadline for application
All applications for the George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation Scholarships must be submitted by February 16, annually.
If this date falls on a weekend, they must receive an application no later than 4:00 pm on the Friday before the student’s senior year.
