Hyundai’s scholarship program is designed to interest American academics in Korea and to promote bilateral cultural, economic, and political exchanges between the United States and the Republic of Korea.
The goal is for South Korean academics to use their knowledge to improve the viability of the South Korean economy through the expansion of educational technology in the fields of international business, international banking, computing, information technology, research and development, and related fields.
Scholarship Benefits
Each of the winning candidates will receive a benefit of $5,000 (full-time) or $2,500 (part-time) for one academic year.
Who is eligible for the Hyundai scholarship?
To qualify for this scholarship, you must meet the following requirements.
Field of study
Eligible fields of study are all programs in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and in the School of Business in regard to Korea-Korea or Korea-America relations.
Scholarship Qualifications
Full-tuition (fees excluded) Hyundai Scholarships are awarded for the period of one academic year for J-1 visa holders.
Citizens entering and studying full-time at the Ph.D. or Master’s level at GWU in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences or the School of Business. (Other schools and programs are not eligible. Current students are not eligible.)
All recipients must be full-time teachers or doctoral students and demonstrate high academic performance while maintaining the required grade point averages for their study programs.
Incoming Korean students must have minimum TOEFL scores of 600 on the written test or 105 on the Internet-based test or an overall IELTS band score of 7.0 (with no individual band below 6.0).
