Howard Thomas, who received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in chemical and process engineering in 1989, established the Eddie and Elizabeth Thomas MEng Scholarship in order to provide financial assistance to students who are enrolled in an MEng program throughout their four-year degree but are unable to do so due to financial constraints. Undergraduate students in stage 1 who are enrolled in an MEng degree program at the School of Engineering are eligible to apply for one of two available scholarships.

About the Scholarship:

It was here that the University of New South Wales college that would eventually become Newcastle University was originally created. Founded in late 1951, it began accepting students the following year. In 1964, the New South Wales parliament voted to grant the University of Newcastle full autonomy. Founded in 1965, it has been routinely regarded as one of the world’s greatest universities ever since its founding. With its earliest students, teachers and administrators bringing in cutting-edge methods of thinking and doing things from its inception, the university has achieved incredible success. For example, there is a friendly and safe atmosphere on campuses like the Callaghan, Newcastle, Central Coast, Singapore, and Sydney campuses of the institution. Buildings that have earned architectural accolades and were created to world-class standards make up the Callaghan campus, which has more than 140 hectares of natural bushland. In addition to nursing and health care, the campus serves as a crossroads for a wide range of academic fields such as humanities, social science, STEMM, and science.

Connecting commercial and creative industries, as well as business and legal systems are critical functions of Newcastle City campus, which is located in its heart. It’s no surprise that the college, despite its central location, is buzzing with creative energy. University students can enjoy a “next generation” university experience in their state-of-the art facility, NUspace. Ourimbah, on the Central Coast of New South Wales, is approximately halfway between Newcastle and Sydney. Oral health therapy, podiatry, nursing, and studies in the natural and social sciences are just a few of the specialties represented on this campus’s roster of academic offerings (food, coastal and marine, and exercise and sports). For international students who have completed their study and gained enough work experience, they are eligible for permanent residency in Australia. ” With the goal of promoting student retention in regional locations, students who complete studies at the Newcastle and Central Coast campuses can stay for up to three years, and those who complete studies at the Sydney campus can stay for four years. Students from 113 different countries make up 7,399 of the university’s 37,946 total students today. In addition, it has a 155,000-strong alumni network dispersed over 149 different countries.

There is a long-standing tradition of innovative academic programs and exemplary teaching and learning at the University of Newcastle in Australia. This has helped the university rise to the top of higher education around the world. There is an English Language Centre and educational pathways through the University of Newcastle College for International Education in addition to undergraduate, postgraduate, and research level programs. Learn from the world’s greatest teachers in the most cutting-edge facilities at a university that’s known for its high standards of excellence. For students who come from different countries, they have the opportunity to establish new friends. Among them are Steve Abbott (actor and comedian), David Berthold (a theatre director), Scott Bevan (a journalist), Jonathan Biggins (an actor, writer, and singer), Pete Gray (an environmental activist), Christian Heim (a composer), Paul A. Broad (a former CEO of Infrastructure NSW), Ross Gittins (an economist and journalist), Susie Porter (an actress), Peter Stutchbury (a well-known architect), and Janeen Webb (an author) (Actor, comedian, & broadcaster). A wide range of water sports can be enjoyed in and around Newcastle’s beaches and canals, including swimming, surfing, and sailing. Just a few hours from Sydney, Lake Macquarie, Australia’s largest coastal saltwater lake, can be reached by car and is four times larger than Sydney Harbour.

Because of the city’s surrounding population of about 450,000 people, Newcastle can sustain an active business and commercial sector and an exceptional network of health care and educational institutions. In Newcastle, the combination of a pleasant environment and inexpensive costs of living creates a lifestyle that is both enticing and tranquil. Located about three hours north of Sydney, the city of Newcastle is accessible via rail travel. You may reach the city’s center in 15 to 40 minutes via rail or bus, depending on the option you select (train). For overseas students, the University of Newcastle offers the ideal balance of a rewarding lifestyle and a high-quality academic experience. There are about 30,000 students registered at the University of Newcastle, including over 6,000 international students from over 80 countries. There are 150 classes available to students, spread over six major faculties (Colleges).

The University of Newcastle’s campus is one of the most beautiful in Australia. Because of the surrounding Australian fauna and the tranquility of the property’s 300 acres of natural bushland, students may focus on their studies without interruptions. Shops and restaurants abound in the Union’s retail district. These include cafeterias and coffee shops as well as bars, a bookshop, and a credit union. In addition, there are two banks, a travel agency, and a medical center that has both dentists and doctors available on-call.. On-campus students have access to a state-of-the-art sports facility. One of Australia’s tallest climbing walls (60 feet), two basketball courts indoors, two martial arts studios, weight and training rooms, and a Health Education Center are part of this facility. It also has an Olympic-sized indoor pool and a 60-foot climbing wall.

The higher education system in the United Kingdom acts as a model for that in Australia. According to this, the majority of first-year undergraduate courses at the university level are made up of a combination of weekly lectures, class discussions, workshops, tutorials and independent study time. Deadlines (also known as final dates) for students’ schoolwork are given out at the beginning of each session… Their failure to meet the deadlines will result in fines, whether or not the work has been completed. When students sign up for classes during orientation week, they will receive the lecture and class times for all of their compulsory academic disciplines. Students are expected to attend all lectures and tutorials at the scheduled times. Attending one or two classes each week is the norm, and the majority of the assessed material is dependent on a midterm or final test.
