Utrecht University in Netherlands invites the outstanding students to apply for the scholarship program for the academic year 2024-2025. The scholarship is open for candidates who can demonstrate their academic achievements and achieve their bachelor’s degree at the University College of Utrecht and the talented graduates from Utrecht University’s Economic and Business program. The scholarship program will differ depending on the student’s nationality but is typically awarded an amount of $25,000 annually for the non-EU students and at least $10,000 for the EU outstanding students. Three scholarships will be awarded annually and funded by the Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund or SYLFF.

Scholarship Eligibility
Before proceeding with the application, the students must meet the eligibility criteria of the scholarship program.
- Applicants must be recent students or graduates with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business program.
- Must be holding a non-Dutch passport and ineligible for the Dutch Support system in any grants or financial assistance.
- Must be admitted ion one of the eligible International Masters degree programs at the Utrecht University in the fields of Social Science, Humanities, or Economics.
- Must be able to comply with the terms and conditions to achieve a Dutch Residence permit.
Selection Process for the Scholarship Awards
- The applicants must be able to demonstrate their ambitions to contribute in a positive manner to the local and global society.
- Must be able to demonstrate their academic achievements in their previous degree, test scores, grades, and publications.
- Must be active in engaging in their study program and participate in any extracurricular activities or to the community.
- Must have a proven ability to collaborate effectively across diverse disciplines and cultures.
All applicants will be nominated by their respective faculty. The selection committee will be ranking the nominations and render them to the SYLFF organizations to review the selected students for the scholarship awards.
Application Process
All eligible candidates will be nominated by their respective faculties, individual applicants will not be considered. The nomination aims to ensure that all candidates are identified and scholarship awards will be awarded to deserving students who meet all the eligible criteria.
Utrecht Sylff Scholarship will be awarded to the students who possess the qualities and align with the commitments to positive changes, values, and mission of the university and the scholarship program.
Scholarship Awards
The Utrecht Sylff Scholarship will be awarded in US Dollars and the amount will vary depending on the nationality of the successful students. The objective of the awards is to assist the students with the following:
- Travel allowance
- Living expenses
- Fees
The scholarship will amount to up to $25,000 annually and while the scholarship provides financial support, the amount may not cover all expenses associated with the stay in Utrecht. Therefore, the university encourages scholars to seek additional sources to fund their stay in the Netherlands and ensure that they can finance other fees while pursuing their higher education at the university.

The deadline to complete and submit the application is until April 1, 2024. It is important to coordinate and complete all materials required for the application along with the nomination of your respective faculties.
