Ph.D. Scholarship at Macquarie University
The lexical tone is the dominant phonetic sign in human language, but to better understand how bilinguals use this suprasegmental information in each of their two languages is far from clear in the spoken realm. The scholarship project focuses on the fundamental cognitive/linguistic mechanisms that drive bilingual lexical processing in comprehension and production. In the series of behavioral and eye-tracking studies, the program will examine how and whether tone information in a language is co-activated in target language processing under different conditions and how this process will affect individual differences, e.g. B. L2 knowledge is affected.
