Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following to be able to continue with the application:
- The scholarship is open to home students or UK students.
- The students must be admitted to the Department of English, Literature, or other related fields.
- Admission in September 2022. Students who apply during the 2022/2023 application period and postpone their admission to September 2023 will also be considered.
The following criteria are based on the York Opportunity Scholarship and Access and Outreach Extended Access Program guidelines. They are designed to prioritize rewards and engagement opportunities for those facing the greatest challenges.
The applicants must meet the following:
- Must be a permanent resident in the United Kingdom r qualified for eligible home fees and funding at the university admission process.
- Must be holding an offer to study at the Department of English at the University of York in an undergraduate degree for the September 2022 entry.
- The household income of the applicants must be £70,004 and together with your parents, you must give consent to share your financial information on the student’s application loans to be considered for the eligibility for the scholarship award.
- Must be able to demonstrate the significant barriers to their personal, domestic and social life that has been affecting your education and journey to further your higher education.
Additional Criteria
- Can have a background in underrepresented groups such as Asian or Asian British, British Black, Multiple Ethnicity, Gypsy, Roma or Irish Traveller.
- Must have an experience in local authority care.
- Experience being homeless.
- Can define your relationship with your family in other circumstances such as conflicts or problems that cause the students to break on their studies and irreconcilable.
- The students who are eligible for the free meal at their secondary level.
- The first generation of their family to attend higher education.
- Have military background.
- have a long-term health condition or disability.
- LGBTQ+ is accepted.
- A refugee or seeking asylum.
- An adult learner who is about 25 years old to study higher education.
Selection Process
The University of York receive more applications and all applications will be reviewed and selected applications will be reviewed by a jury. Priority will be given to applicants who meet the most criteria and who overcome the greatest challenges in their studies.
