Creating unique medical imaging techniques for non-glycolytic tumors is the name of the project that the Flinders Foundation is funding, and we are looking for an applicant who is exceptional to receive a PhD scholarship for it. The University of South Australia and Flinders University are working together on this fascinating initiative as part of their relationship.

This scholarship will be awarded for a period of one year and will be housed within the College of Medicine and Public Health at Flinders University. The recipients will be supervised by Dr. Lauren Thurgood and Dr. Giles Best.

Scholarship Offer:

  • The following are part of the scholarship:
  • A tax-free allowance worth $33,000 per year at the rate in effect in 2023.
  • The scholarship will be given out for a period of one year.
  • A Research Training Program Fee Offset Scholarship to pay the cost of tuition for citizens of Australia, New Zealand, and permanent residents of Australia and New Zealand.

 

The Gustafsson & Skrondal Visiting Scholarship is administered by the University of Oslo’s Centre for Educational Measurement (CEMO). As part of the visiting scholar program, CEMO and the University of Oslo host a number of young researchers from Norway and elsewhere each year.

 

Eligibility for Scholarship.

  • A student must fulfill the following requirements in order to be considered for the awarding of this scholarship
  • possess either Australian or New Zealand citizenship, have been awarded permanent residence status in either country, or all three; and
  • Meet all of the requirements for admission to the PhD program, which include the following: hold an Australian Honors degree of Class 1 or 2A or an equivalent qualification (at least AQF Level 8), with a research component consisting of at least 6 months of full-time study and earning a distinction score of 75% OR include evidence of equivalent research experience, such as a substantial first-author publication or track record as an investigator on a competitive grant; and
  • Having familiarity in fundamental laboratory procedures, such as PCR, is required.
  • You must be able to start your PhD studies at Flinders University as a full-time student in the first semester of 2023.
  • The team working on the project will make the final decision.

If a student enrolls in one of the degree programs offered by SOAS University of London, they may be eligible to receive a fee waiver award in the amount of £5,000. This award is available to students who are interested in receiving a degree from SOAS University of London.

 

Application Procedure

  • Prior to submitting an application for the scholarship, potential applicants are strongly encouraged to get in touch with the Project lead, Dr. Lauren Thurgood, through email ([email protected]), to explore their level of interest in the opportunity as well as their qualifications for taking advantage of it.  It’s possible that the head of the project may ask you to submit an application and will ask for a copy of your resume together with a cover letter explaining your relevant qualifications, experience, and research experience, as well as your reasons for wanting to receive the scholarship.
  • The chosen applicant will start as soon as it is practical, subject to further discussion and negotiation. (and not later than June 2023).
