Scholarship details
DISTRIBUTED INTELLIGENCE ON A GROUP OF AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS UNDER RESOURCE AND COMMUNICATION CONSTRAINTS is the title of the project for which we are looking for exceptional candidates to award PhD scholarships. The project is being sponsored by the European Union. Flinders University and the Institut Mines Telecom Atlantique (IMT), which is located in France, are collaborating on this exciting initiative together.
This project will investigate efficient reasoning processes, communication strategies, and underlying low-level control mechanisms essential to coordinate heterogeneous teams of autonomous marine vehicles, in environments that are dynamic and uncertain. These will all be investigated in this project. In this particular piece of work, the autonomous agents need to reach a consensus through a process of communication in order for them to successfully collaborate on the solution of difficult problems. Each participant will bring their own unique set of resources, capabilities, points of view, and top objectives when working within this collaborative structure. We anticipate that this solution will be sufficiently general to support heterogeneous teams functioning across air, surface, and underwater domains, as well as between artificial and human agents. This is something that we can do with this solution. As a result, the creation of a mixed-initiative system is our primary objective. In this system, the interaction and negotiation that takes place between the agents will maximize the agents’ resources in order to maximize the successful completion of a shared mission.
