The Nita Curtis Scholarship was made possible thanks to a generous donation that was made in recognition of the positive impact that Nita Curtis had on the lives of persons who were living with severe impairments. Students in the Department of Disability Studies at Flinders University will be eligible to receive financial aid through this scholarship, the goal of which is to foster postgraduate training in the field of disability studies and provide students with financial support.

Scholarship Offer:
One or more scholarships with a combined value of $5,000 will be given out each year, although this is contingent on there being enough money to cover the costs. The total number of scholarships bestowed will determine how much financial assistance each recipient receives.
Eligibility for Scholarship.
Applicants are required to:
- be citizen of Australia or a permanent resident of the country, and be enrolled in one of the following degree programs provided by the Department of Disability Studies at the University: In addition, applicants must be working on a research topic that is related to the Community Accommodation and Respite Agency (CARA) and its client population. Honors; or Graduate Certificate in Disability Studies; or Master of Disability Studies; or Masters Degree by Research;
- A committee made up of two individuals selected by CARA and two members nominated by the Department of Disability Studies at Flinders University will make the final selection. Academic merit, experience in the disability field, the extent to which an applicant’s research project is relevant to CARA and its client population, and how an applicant would envision contributing to future research in the disability field will be taken into consideration when deciding who will receive the scholarship. Applicants who have previous experience or who are currently employed in the disability field in South Australia will be given preference for the position. At the following year’s Annual General Meeting of CARA, the recipient of the scholarship will be expected to deliver a verbal report on the study that was carried out.
The International Vice-Chancellor Postgraduate Scholarships granted by Writtle University in the United Kingdom for the academic year 2022-2023 are intended to encourage EU and international students to pursue higher education.
