Scholarship details
Eligibility
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- 15-18.5 years of age at start of program.
- Enrolled in high school (including home school) at the time of application.
- For the following countries, prior French skills are required: Morocco, Senegal.
- The YES Abroad program seeks applicants of all racial, ethnic, religious, socio-economic backgrounds, and sexual orientations.
- All applicants are required to take an English proficiency exam.
Requirements
Students live with host families, attend high school, engage in activities to learn about the host country’s society and values, acquire leadership skills, and help educate others about American culture while learning about their host country’s culture. Approximately 65 American students travel overseas each year.
Upon their return to the United States, the students apply their leadership skills and share their knowledge about their host countries through community engagement.
How to Apply
The only way to apply is through the YES Program.
Reward
An award of $5,000 is awarded, however this does vary depending on what country a student chooses to travel too. Then the award amount will match that countries currency exchange rate.

The deadline is December 8, 2021.
Annual
This is an annual international aboard scholarship available to students.
