Are you a female student from Africa who wants to study law at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in the UK? Do you have a passion for your chosen subject and a desire to achieve academic excellence? Do you need some financial support to pursue your academic goals? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you might be interested in applying for the Margaret Bennett Scholarship.
The Margaret Bennett Scholarship is a scholarship that LSE offers every year to female students from Africa who are enrolled in the LLM programme. The LLM programme is a one-year master’s degree that offers a wide range of courses in various areas of law, such as human rights, international law, corporate law, criminal law, and more. The programme also offers students the opportunity to write a dissertation on a topic of their choice under the supervision of an expert academic.
The scholarship is worth £5,000 and is awarded as a tuition fee discount. The scholarship is awarded for one year of full-time study at LSE. The scholarship is competitive and based on academic merit.
The scholarship is intended to encourage and reward female students from Africa who have demonstrated exceptional academic potential and commitment in their previous studies, as well as to support them in their studies and living expenses in the UK. The scholarship also aims to foster goodwill and understanding between LSE and Africa, as well as to enhance the reputation and influence of LSE as a leading institution in law education and research.
The scholarship is open to applicants who meet the following criteria:
• They have a confirmed place to study at LSE in the LLM programme.
• They are nationals of or domiciled in any African country.
• They are international students paying overseas fees.
• They are not receiving any other bursary or scholarship from LSE or another organisation.
To apply for the scholarship, applicants do not need to submit a separate application form. They will be automatically considered for the scholarship once they have received an offer on the LLM programme by 27 April 2023. The applications will be judged on their academic merit.
The Margaret Bennett Scholarship is a valuable opportunity for female students from Africa who want to study law at LSE and benefit from its excellent teaching and research. The scholarship not only covers part of the tuition fees, but also provides access to the facilities and resources of LSE, as well as opportunities to network and participate in events and activities. The scholarship also contributes to strengthening the ties between LSE and Africa, as well as promoting the role and reputation of LSE as a global institution.
