Carleton University in Canada is proud to offer the Richard J. Van Loon Scholarship for eligible African Students who want to undertake their higher education in Canada in any field available at the university for the academic year of 2023-2024.
The scholarship is intended for undergraduate and graduate students who can demonstrate their academic excellence and leadership skills. The scholarship aims to help African Citizens who would like to advance their education and career to achieve an employability rate that can help them cope with their future finances and be one of the motivations and leaders who can contribute to their home country.
The University takes up on the international contribution to education that helps students who are struggling to pay for their education fees and break the barriers that challenge them to stop their education and fulfill their professions.

About Richard Van Loon
The scholarship is offered to honor Mr. Richard J Van Loon and is endowed by his friends and his family.
Richard Van Loon, Past Leader of Carleton University and Chair of the Chamber of Ontario Colleges. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Examinations from Sovereigns College. Dr. Van Looncase originally joined Carleton College in 1970 as a collaborator teacher of Political Theory. He has stood firm on staff footings in the School of Public Arrangement and Organization at Carleton University and the Personnel of Organization at the College of Ottawa. He was Partner Delegate Priest of Wellbeing Canada and of Indian Undertakings and Northern Turn of events and stood firm on a few Right hand Representative Pastor situations.
Ebb and flow research interests incorporate government common relations, especially connected with post-auxiliary training, quality confirmation, and informative strategy in post-optional schooling and the historical backdrop of the Ottawa Waterway.

Scholarship Eligibility
Before proceeding with the application, the students must meet the eligibility criteria for the scholarship:
- Must be a resident and citizen of the African Country
- Must be an international student who is required to have a valid students permit to study in Canada.
- Must be registered as a full-time student at Carleton University and must maintain a good academic grade from their first year of study in any program available at the university.
- The applicants must demonstrate their academic excellence.
Keep in mind that all programs offered by Carleton University are thought in the English language and students are required to have good communication skills in oral and written English. The university admission required that the students must meet the minimum required English language proficiency score.
Application Process
The application can be made in an online portal provided by the university. The application form must be completed in order to be considered for the scholarship.
Late and incomplete applications will not be evaluated and will be automatically rejected. The application requires added materials to support the candidates’ application.
All submitted application forms and materials will be evaluated by the scholarship committee and notification will be sent out after the evaluation of the scholarship application.

Scholarship Awards
The Carleton University Richard Van Loon Scholarship will be providing ana award amounting to up to $5,000 to the successful students. The successful students are required to read and agreed to the terms and conditions applied to the scholarship.
To maintain the scholarship award, the students must be able to meet the required GPA for the scholarship. Keep in mind that the scholarship criteria will be based on the student’s academic merits and not on their financial needs.
