The Keith and Dorothy Mackay Honours Scholarship is awarded to students who are in their Honours year at the University of New England (or who will enrol in their Honours year in the following calendar year) and who, due to personal hardship, would otherwise be unable to complete their Honours Year. Students in their Honours year at the University of New England are eligible for this prize, which is intended to reward their exceptional academic performance.
Scholarships are awarded by the Higher Degree Research Scholarships Committee. Research Services will issue a request for proposals every November, and the award(s) will be presented by the end of December at the latest. Most scholarship recipients start their fellowships within a year of receiving their awards.

Scholarship Offer:
- This scholarship has a maximum value of $5,000 AUD and can be used to pay for either one year of full-time study or two years of part-time study. If you apply for an honours program and are selected, you will get two lump sum payments, one at the beginning of the program and another at its conclusion.

The Gustafsson & Skrondal Visiting Scholarship is administered by the University of Oslo’s Centre for Educational Measurement (CEMO). As part of the visiting scholar program, CEMO and the University of Oslo host a number of young researchers from Norway and elsewhere each year.
Eligibility for Scholarship.
- The applicant must satisfy the following requirements to be considered:
- To qualify for this award, you must either be enrolled in your Honours year at the University of New England this academic year or plan to do so in the upcoming academic year. Included here are those who have completed the first three years of a four-year Bachelor’s degree and are now in their last year of study (the “Honours” year) AND

- The candidates will be prioritized based on the following criteria:
- Merit in the classroom: Successful applicants often have a history of earning distinctions and high distinctions.
- Documentation demonstrating the necessity for monetary aid
- Approval Letter from Management
- The Official Score Report
- Preference will be given to those who have already spent the equivalent of three years studying at the University of New England in Armidale.
- Application Requirements in Terms of Forms and Files
- A one-page letter outlining the specifics of their financial situation (not including research fees) and why they are unable to complete their honours study.

- Included with each application must be a Statement of Support from the candidate’s Principal Supervisor. The University will not investigate these claims on your behalf.
- In no more than 500 words, please describe how the student’s proposed research aligns with the School’s research priorities and how the School intends to help the student succeed with their study.
- The statement of support can be emailed directly to [email protected] by the supervisor to Research Services, or it can be sent to the student to attach to this application. There is no standard format for the supporting statement.
- The Official Scorers’ Reports
- One reference report is needed from each applicant. You cannot count on the University to submit report requests on your behalf.
- Referees should be in a position to comment intelligently on both the applicant’s research abilities and their work during the relevant portion of their education. References should be able to comment intelligently on the applicant’s research skills. If you’re basing your application on previous relevant work experience or education, at least one of your references needs to be able to speak to that.

If a student enrolls in one of the degree programmes offered by SOAS University of London, they may be eligible to receive a fee waiver award in the amount of £5,000. This award is available to students who are interested in receiving a degree from SOAS University of London.
