Scholarship details
The scholarship honors Sharon D. Banks, chief executive officer of AC Transit in Alameda-Contra Costa County, California. As its CEO throughout most of the 1990’s, Banks led the agency in a pioneering effort to introduce cultural and organizational changes aimed at motivating the public-transit work force. She was a member of the WTS Advisory Board and received the WTS San Francisco Chapter Woman of the Year and Employer of the Year awards.
Eligibility & Requirements
- GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in a transportation-related field, such as transportation engineering, planning, finance, or logistics.
- Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field.
- Provide the information needed on the information page, letter of recommendation, and proof of enrollment.
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted through local WTS chapters. Scholarships are competitive and based on the applicant’s specific transportation goals, academic record, and transportation-related activities or job skills. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply. Greater New York scholarships will be presented at a reception in the fall of 2020. Recipient’s attendance at awards dinner is strongly recommended. Reward
The total reward to one individual is $5,000.

September 10, 2023 is the deadline and this is also a annual scholarship. SO the next open portal after September 10th, of this year will be Sept. 10, 2024 and also one year after on Sept. 10, 2025.
