The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research’s (CSIR) Technology Localisation Implementation Unit awarded the Mobile Applications Laboratory NPC (mLab) a Regional Innovation Support Programme (RISP) grant to establish an AgriTech and TravelTech regional innovation network in Limpopo Province.
The project’as goal is to create a network of researchers, designers, innovators, and entrepreneurs in Limpopo in order to establish a vibrant agriculture and tourism technology ecosystem. Polokwane is the ideal city from which to launch the network, and it will also serve as a hub from which to extend the network to more remote areas of the Limpopo Province. The agriculture and tourism sectors have a high potential for unlocking innovation opportunities that will aid in the development of a thriving economy in Limpopo Province. The goal of the mLab RISP Project is to foster stakeholder collaboration and the expansion of Limpopo Province’s AgriTech and TravelTech ecosystems by capitalizing on the region’s entrepreneurial successes, existing networks, and public-private partnerships.

The RISP Project will concentrate on:
1. Establishing and expanding a collaborative stakeholder network
2. Creating a thriving ecosystem that fosters innovation
3. Encouraging community participation through innovative activities and challenges, and
4. Incubating and assisting qualified start-ups in order to accelerate the commercialization of AgriTech and TravelTech in the region.

Scholarship Offer:
1. Successful participants will be mentored, provided with technical assistance, and trained in commercialisation and design thinking investor pitching skills, technology transfer, lean methodology to innovation, and business model canvas workshops.
2. To advance to the next round, the startups will compete in a demo day competition, where a panel of distinguished judges will select the top four finalists, each of whom will receive R100 000.00 in business and technology support.
3. The prize package includes bespoke mentoring, digital and innovation support, networking opportunities, and market access from mLab and its network of partners and collaborators.
4. In September 2022, they will also attend the SA Innovation Summit in Cape Town.
Eligibility for Scholarship
1. Entrants must be Limpopo residents with a valid SA ID.
2. Start-up representatives must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
3. A minimum of two (2) members are required for each start-up. Individual entries are encouraged, as long as the applicant is willing to contribute a relevant skill to their team.
4. The start-up must be a registered business in the Limpopo province of South Africa.
5. A scalable business model is required for start-ups.
6. Entrants must demonstrate commercial viability and growth potential.
7. Teams must demonstrate dedication.

Requirements to study in Belgium
Belgium is one of the best countries in Europe to emigrate to work or study. In fact, Belgium receives more than 50,000 people a year who travel to the country in search of professional and study opportunities. To keep this system intact, every student over the age of 21 must present a certificate that they do not have a criminal record.
Some universities require documentation of your entrance exam (an example would be the French exam for medical students in the Frankfurt region).
The Master Mind Scholarships in Flanders, Belgium are offered by the Flemish Ministry of Education and Training, which awards scholarships for master’s programs in Flanders and Brussels, Belgium, to outstanding students from around the world. If you are interested, you must first apply to one of the Flemish host institutions that participate in the Master Mind Scholarship Program.
DURATION OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
The duration of the mobility is one academic year for a master’s program of 60 ECTS and two academic years for a master’s program of 120 ECTS.
PRIORITY COUNTRIES
There are a number of scholarships reserved for students from certain countries: Japan (3), Mexico (3), Palestine (2), and the USA (5). These countries are priority countries for the Flemish government. If a scholarship is not accepted, it is awarded to the highest-ranked candidate by the selection committee.
Students must not combine this scholarship with another Flemish government scholarship or an Erasmus Mundus scholarship.
At the end of the mobility, all students are expected to submit an essay and complete a short questionnaire about their mobility.
A maximum of 20 applications can be submitted per Flemish higher education institution.
ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The applicant can be nominated by only one Flemish higher education institution.
If the applicant is shortlisted by more than one Flemish higher education institution, they must choose a Flemish higher education institution to enter their application using the Mobility Online tool.
Absolutely all nationalities can apply for these scholarships.
The previous degree obtained must be from a higher education institution located outside of Flanders.
International students who have previously completed credit mobility at a host Flemish higher education institution are still eligible for a Master Mind scholarship.
Students who are already enrolled in a Flemish higher education institution are not eligible to apply. The only exception is made for international students who, at the time of their application in spring 2022, are already enrolled in a specific preparatory program to start a master’s program in September 2022.
