Ohio Ashland University has announced that it is now offering Fortnite scholarships to exceptional Fortnite players who are citizens of the United States. The school is forming an eSports scholarship program, which it believes is the “first known college eSports program in the country.” Fortnite happens to be one of the games on the school’s eSports varsity list.
Ashland University is one of 66 colleges and universities in the NOS. who has joined the National Association of Sports Colleges since its founding in 2016. The e-sports scholarship program offers scholarships of up to $4,000.

Ashland University is a mid-sized, private, not-for-profit university located in Ashland, Ohio, United States. The university consists of a 135-acre main campus and several off-campus centers throughout central and northern Ohio.

- 2022 Awards for Incoming Freshmen and Transfer Students
First-time freshmen are eligible for college awards ranging from $6,500 to $11,500 per year and first-time transfer students are eligible for college awards ranging from $2,000 to $8,000.
Awards are determined by a review of a student’s previous academic performance (prior high school or college transcript) and performance on standardized tests (ACT/SAT, does not apply to transfers). Admitted students will receive confirmation of their awards shortly after being admitted to the university. These awards do not apply to readmitted students.
- Scholarships for art, music, and theater.
These departments award scholarships based on talent. Each department requires an on-campus interview. An audition is required for the drama and music scholarships, while the submission of a portfolio is required to apply for the art scholarship. These scholarships are renewable by meeting certain departmental criteria.
- Ashbrook Scholarship
A renewable merit-based scholarship of up to $2,000 per year. A political science major and a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 are required. Scholarship applications are available at the Ashbrook Center. - Ashland university scholarship
Students are offered a need-based grant. In addition to financial needs determined through the FAFSA, the grant is based on high school GPA and ACT or SAT scores or college GPA for transfer students. Renewal is based on the student’s need in subsequent years and the student’s academic performance at Ashland University.
- Athletics scholarship
Varsity sports for men and women offer scholarships to selected athletes. Coaches, under the leadership of the athletic director and in coordination with the Financial Aid Office, determine distribution standards that follow guidelines established by the athletic conference and the NCAA. The coach determines the total amount of athletic and non-exempt aid awarded to the student-athlete.
- Grant Brothers
Students who are members of the Ashland-based Brethren Church prior to enrolling at Ashland University are eligible for this grant. A letter verifying membership from the pastor of the student’s church is required. The grant is renewable by maintaining satisfactory academic progress and the amount is $1,000.
