Ohio Ashland University has announced that it is now offering Fortnite scholarships to exceptional Fortnite players who are citizens of the United States. The school is forming an eSports scholarship program, which it believes is the “first known college eSports program in the country.” Fortnite happens to be one of the games on the school’s eSports varsity list.

Ashland University is one of 66 colleges and universities in the NOS. who has joined the  National Association of Sports Colleges since its founding in 2016. The e-sports scholarship program offers scholarships of up to $4,000.

• 2022 Awards for Incoming Freshmen and Transfer Students

Awards are determined by a review of a student’s previous academic performance (prior high school or college transcript) and performance on standardized tests (ACT/SAT, does not apply to transfers). These departments award scholarships based on talent. Each department requires an on-campus interview. An audition is required for the drama and music scholarships, while the submission of a portfolio is required to apply for the art scholarship. These scholarships are renewable by meeting certain departmental criteria.

• Ashbrook Scholarship

Varsity sports for men and women offer scholarships to selected athletes. Coaches, under the leadership of the athletic director and in coordination with the Financial Aid Office, determine distribution standards that follow guidelines established by the athletic conference and the NCAA. The coach determines the total amount of athletic and non-exempt aid awarded to the student-athlete.
