They do this by encouraging local high school seniors to pursue their dreams of going to college. Please note, however, that this BP Scholarship application is available to undergraduate students.

Learn more about the 2024 BP Community Scholarship
This year marks the 32nd year of the BP Community Scholarship Program serving the New York area and northern New Jersey. Since its inception, the program has awarded more than $3.2 million and is approaching 2,000 scholarships benefiting promising students.
Each year, scholarship winners are honored at a scholarship reception.
This annual event provides an opportunity to recognize scholarship recipients along with their families. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for our students to meet BP representatives and other invited dignitaries.

Host Nationality
This community scholarship program is sponsored and provided by BP in London, UK.
Eligible Nationality
For the Bp Community Scholarship Application, only students who are residents of New York City, Westchester County, or Northern New Jersey are eligible to apply.
Scholarship Worth
BP offered scholarships for up to 10 students worth up to £9,000 each. Scholars receive £3,000 from their second year for the duration of their degree (up to four years).
The scholarship is not intended to cover fees but offers students support with the costs of resources and living. However, BP scholars will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, such as conferences, as well as be accelerated for internships or postgraduate employment.
Eligibility for the BP Community Scholarship Program
To be considered for a BP Community Scholarship, you must meet all of the following criteria:
- A high school senior who plans to enroll as a full-time student (12 semester hours or more) at an accredited two- or four-year college or university in the US for the 2024-2025 academic year.
- Legally reside in New York City, Long Island, Westchester County, or Northern New Jersey.
- Possess at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
- Be able to demonstrate financial need.
Selection Criteria
Awards will be based on information provided in the application, personal statement, academic performance, extracurricular activities, work experience, individual goals, and demonstrated financial need.
Scholarship recipients will be selected by a committee of participating station owners and operators and other representatives based on the above criteria. All applicants will be notified in May. Scholars will be required to attend the BP Scholarship Reception to be held on June 20 at Citi Field.

BP Scholarship applicants must submit an official high school transcript.
Applicants must submit a copy of their Student Aid Report (SAR) that includes the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the information provided on their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The 2024 BP Scholarship Deadline
Application for the BP Community Scholarship program is always done around the 20th of March each year.
BP Scholarship for OXFORD Students
BP scholarships are available to undergraduate students starting at Oxford in 2024. They must be studying a defined list of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects, as well as economics and management.
The program, launched in 2012, is focused on supporting the education and development of the next generation of engineers and scientists. This is achieved by developing the skills and knowledge necessary to work in the energy industry. How do I apply?
To be selected as a BP Scholar, applicants must complete an online application form, a situational judgment questionnaire, online verbal and numerical quizzes, and a face-to-face interview with BP. Eligible students will be contacted when applications open and invited to apply.
Other information
Eligible Subjects: Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth Sciences, Economics and Management, Engineering Sciences, Materials Science, Mathematics, Mathematics, and Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics, and Physics. Please note that students studying an unlisted joint honors course are not eligible to apply for the BP Scholarship.
Students are expected to maintain good academic standing in order to continue receiving the award each year.
As a BP Scholar, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, including a two- to three-day interactive event designed to help students understand more about the oil and gas industry. She will also receive a fast track to an internship or graduate interview.
Please note that if you are successful in being selected as a BP Scholar, this will not affect your eligibility for any Oxford Scholarships you may receive. A visa is a stamp or other notation usually placed in your passport that will allow you to enter and temporarily reside in your host country during your program. A visa is required for year-round programs.
Most of your visa fees will be refunded to you. The refund will be provided after you have applied for and paid for your visa. Plan to cover the visa fees in advance. More details will be provided closer to the time you would need to start the visa application process.
Students will study in Brazil and India, countries with major BP operations. While a student’s preference is considered, students should be flexible as AFS works to find the best option for each student.
AFS reserves the right to choose the final country destination and does not guarantee that you will be offered a scholarship for one of the country preferences you list on your AFS application.

Many BP participants start the program with little or no experience in the language of their host country, but quickly learn to communicate at a basic level.
There is no better way to learn a language than to speak it every day! Try your best to communicate, even using basic words and phrases. You’ll get better every day and by the end of your year abroad, you’ll likely be fluent in the host country’s language.
Expenses not covered by the scholarship include, but are not limited to, the following:
