About the Scholarship:

The University of Newcastle began as a University of New South Wales college. It originally opened in late 1951 and began accepting students in 1952. In 1964, the NSW parliament granted the University of Newcastle autonomy. In 1965, it became an independent university, and it is today one of the world’s top 200 universities. Since its inception, the University’s staff, students, and leaders have brought novel ways of thinking and working that have resulted in extraordinary results. Callaghan campus, Newcastle City campus, Central Coast campus, Singapore campus, and Sydney campus are among the university’s safe, friendly, and secure campuses.Over 140 hectares of natural bushland, the Callaghan campus is a wonderful blend of award-winning, architecturally built buildings and world-class infrastructure. The campus serves as a focal point for education, humanities, social science, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEMM), as well as nursing and health care.

The Newcastle City campus, located in the center of the city, serves as a vital link between industry and the creative industries, business, and law. In the heart of the city, the campus is a swarm of invention. NUspace, the university’s cutting-edge facility, provides a “next generation” university experience. The Central Coast campus at Ourimbah is about halfway between Newcastle and Sydney.

On this campus, you can study business, education, humanities, and social science, as well as oral health therapy, podiatry, and nursing, as well as the sciences (food, coastal and marine, and exercise and sports). International students who meet study and skill requirements are allowed to stay in Australia after completing their education and gaining meaningful job experience. Students who complete their studies at the Sydney campus are able to stay for up to two years, for up to three years at the Newcastle campuses, and for up to four years at the Central Coast school, in order to promote living and working in remote areas. The university now has 37,946 students enrolled, including 7,399 international students from 113 countries. It also boasts a 155,000-strong alumni group spread over 149 countries.

Its 300 acres of natural bushland on the outskirts of town, complete with Australian fauna, provides peace and quiet, ideal conditions for excellent study. Cafeterias, coffee shops, and bars, as well as a bookshop, credit union, and gift and stationery shops, are all located within the Union. Two banks, a travel agency, and a clinic with on-call doctors and dentists are also available. Students have access to a state-of-the-art sports complex on campus, which includes an indoor Olympic-sized swimming pool, a 60-foot climbing wall (one of Australia’s highest), two indoor basketball courts, two martial arts/aerobics studios, fully equipped weight and exercise rooms, and an adjacent Health Education Center.

Higher education in Australia is based on the British model. This implies that most undergraduate courses include weekly lectures, classes, workshops, and tutorials, as well as ‘unstructured’ time for students to pursue independent reading and research. Students are given ‘deadlines’ (final dates) for completing coursework in all disciplines at the start of each session. Even if they have completed the work, they will be fined if they do not meet certain dates. Students will be provided lecture and class hours for all coursework subjects when they enroll during orientation week. All students must attend lectures and tutorials at the designated hours. The majority of graded content is assessed on a midterm and final assignment or exam, and students typically attend class 1-2 times per week for each class.
