Why Beit Trust Scholarships?

How much does Beit Trust Scholarships cost?

The scope of a Beit Postgraduate Scholarship is: Tuition fees and costs and related academic expenses are paid by the Trust directly to the universities.

Payment of a personal allowance, index-linked according to the guidance of an independent authority that covers maintenance.

Other allowances are paid on arrival, for a laptop, for printing a thesis, and for returning to Africa. The Trust provides economy class airfare for the initial journey to the place of study and for the return journey at the end of the course.

Allowances are not paid for spouses or other family members.

Award No: The  Beit Trust offers a series of postgraduate or doctoral master’s degrees annually. Scholarships abroad for study or research to graduates domiciled in Malawi, Zambia, or Zimbabwe. The duration is normally a maximum of three years.

Eligibility

To be eligible to receive the Beit Trust scholarships,

‣ All applicants (except physicians and veterinarians) must be under the age of 30 on December 31 of the year of application.

‣ Some work experience after completing the first degree is also desirable.

‣ Physicians and veterinarians must be under the age of 35 on December 31 and have completed an 18-month internship and preferably a one-year rural post in the relevant country.

‣ The scholarships are contracted at a university in the United Kingdom, Ireland, or South Africa, to study a subject of individual choice appropriate to the needs of the benefit area.
Selection criteria:

‣ Selection for the Beit Trust Scholarships is highly competitive and only postgraduates with at least a merit (equivalent to a good 2.1 from a UK university) in their first degree are likely to be successful.

‣ Selectors favor practical and useful disciplines that are likely to offer a clear benefit to the benefited area.

‣ Due to their high cost, MBAs, and PhDs are rarely awarded in the UK, but an MBA taught at an established university in South Africa is acceptable.

Scholarship Application Method

‣ Please complete and submit this initial application form to qualify for application to Scholarships-at-beittrust.org.uk no later than 15 August.

‣  Scholarship applications are due by the  31st of August annually.

If you qualify, a form will be sent to you and you will be asked to provide additional information and details. This information will include, but not be limited to the following: –

  • A more complete application form
  • A medical certificate from your doctor
  • A certified transcript of your degree results
  • A certified document of proof of residence (National Registration Card or birth certificate)
  • Updated resume showing all work experience

Only those applicants who declare that they intend to return to work in the relevant country after the scholarship ends and who are able, if shortlisted, to appear for an interview at a Beit Postgraduate Scholarship Selection Board in Harare, Blantyre, or Lusaka. in early December, it will be considered.
