Scholarship details
Established in 2009, the Community Foundation of Howard County in partnership with The Ulman Cancer fund for Young Adults is pleased to announce that the Doug Parker Memorial Scholarship is now accepting applicants. The scholarship was made as a tribute to a great man who served as a role model to the citizens of Howard County, and that man is Doug Parker. Through passionate coaching and sponsorship of the youth, Doug influenced the lives of the youth for the better.
The scholarship amounts to $2500 and is open to Howard County High School seniors eyeing to go to college cannot push through due to the constraints brought about by cancer to the student or an immediate family member.
In order to be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must be attending a High School in Howard County, Maryland and graduating this coming summer. The applicant must also have a GPA of 3.0 or higher through the first semester of Grade 12 while having the commitment and passion to be active in sports or other community services.
An application form must be filled out by the applicant and it be submitted together with an essay describing educational plans, career goals, and how the scholarship may impact the individual.
