Departmental Doctoral Scholarships are available at Maynooth University. In order to be eligible for a scholarship in the Department, full-time research degree students beginning a program of study in October 2022 or when otherwise agreed (new entrants to PhD or PhD-track programs) are required to have a relevant first-class or 2.1 honors in their primary degree, or have a relevant Master’s degree. Externally funded students normally aren’t eligible to participate in this program..

The University will provide the following benefits to all of its students:
- Full support for annual tuition expenses (about €6,200 per year); a fixed maintenance award of €10,000 [or €16,000] per year; and a stipend of €10,000 [or €16,000] per year.
- Participants in Departmental activities as part of this scholarship are required to perform teaching support duties for up to 240 hours per year, with an average of no more than 4 hours per week in any one week. Participation in Departmental activities as part of this scholarship is contingent on the completion of teaching support duties for up to 240 hours per year. It is the responsibility of the Head of Department or a member of staff who has been designated by the Head to direct these operations.
