Who awards the scholarship?
The Elisa Acuña Scholarship Program is a new scholarship program of the Government of Mexico whose objective is for students, academic staff, and teachers to receive a scholarship that allows them to access, stay, graduate and improve in the National Educational System, both in academic as well as research.
The Elisa Acuña Scholarships are the new format of Higher Education scholarships operated by the Ministry of Public Education through the National Scholarship Coordination (CNBES). Now they will be part of the Benito Juárez National Scholarship Program for Welfare.
This set of scholarships is different from the Jovenes Escribiendo el Futuro program. The purpose of the Elisa Acuña Scholarships is to encourage those who wish to continue their academic training or teaching professionalization, do their social service, study abroad, and start or finish their degree, and will benefit both students who are pursuing their higher studies, as well as those who recently completed them.
This program will receive part of the funds from the previous Prospera Program in its area of education and will have a special section for female students in situations of poverty and vulnerability.
The program began its operation in January 2022, will have a budget of 4,164 million pesos, and is named after the feminist teacher and journalist born in 1887.
The various modalities of the Elisa Acuña Scholarships accompany the student’s academic career from the moment they enter until they complete their Higher Education, considering complementary support to carry out social service, qualifications, national and international mobility, training, and professional practices, including the professionalization of teachers.
The requirements and amounts of the scholarships are specified in each announcement that is published.
1. Maintenance Scholarship
– For students in general.
– For children of military members of the Mexican Armed Forces.
2. Excellence Scholarship
– For outstanding students.
– For students who have obtained some academic recognition.
3. Social Service Scholarship
For young people who are pursuing undergraduate or Higher Technical studies or have graduated with no more than one year of having completed the study plan.
4. Degree Scholarship
For university students who have completed or are about to complete their higher education studies and who must complete their thesis to obtain the corresponding degree.
5. Scholarship for Professional Practices
– For regular students enrolled in the last two years of undergraduate studies or the last two semesters of Higher Technician.
– For students of Public Normal Schools.
6. National and International Mobility Scholarship
– For university students enrolled in a mobility program within the Mexican Republic.
– And for those who wish to carry out partial or complementary studies abroad.
7. Training Scholarship
For students, teachers, and graduates.
8. Scholarship for the Attention of Contingencies
For students, teachers, and staff with management functions.A

Impulso STEM Scholarships, Science and technology for the youth of Mexico, 2022
The Impulso STEM, Ciencia y Tecnología scholarships for the youth of Mexico seek to have a positive impact on the youth of Oaxaca, through several lines of action that, in the future, will allow us to better respond to the needs of the labor market and increase productivity and competitiveness. of the state.
With the aim of supporting educational development in the south-southeast of the country, Fundación Iberdrola México and the Universidad Tecnológica de Los Valles Centrales de Oaxaca (UTVCO) will award 23 scholarships for Oaxacan students interested in engineering careers to study at UTVCO, allowing them to have better job opportunities and contribute to the development of the state.
PARTICIPATING ACADEMIC AREAS
Fundación Iberdrola México, AC, and the Technological University of the Central Valleys of Oaxaca call for applications for engineering careers in the areas of knowledge and timeframes marked below:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainable and Protected Agriculture (ASP)
2. Bachelor of Information Technology (IT)
3. Bachelor of Renewable Energy (RE)
4. Bachelor of Mechatronics (ME)
5. Bachelor of Textile and Fashion Design (DTM)
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING PERIOD
September 2022 – April 2026
DURATION OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
The duration of the aid will be granted for a maximum period of four years, from the beginning of the study program.
MONITORING AND BASIC CONDITIONS
The scholarship recipient will be subject to periodic reviews established by Fundación Iberdrola México and the Universidad Tecnológica de los Valles Centrales de Oaxaca depending on the duration of the program, and may be carried out at the sole discretion of Fundación Iberdrola México.
In the event that Fundación Iberdrola México determines that the Scholar’s performance does not meet the minimum average required, the scholarship will be canceled without any liability for Fundación Iberdrola México and for the Technological
University of the Central Valleys of Oaxaca.
The scholarship recipient undertakes to comply with all tax obligations that correspond to him as a beneficiary of the scholarship. The amounts delivered by the Technological University of the Central Valleys of Oaxaca will be deposited solely and exclusively in the bank account indicated by it, the scholarship recipient must be the owner of the account in which the deposits are made.
In case of being a minor, it will be deposited to the account of the person in charge or guardian designated by the scholarship recipient, until he/she reaches the age of majority.
What benefits do the STEM, Science, and Technology Impulse Scholarships offer for young people in Mexico?
1. The amount of the scholarship is estimated at $11,500.00 per quarter so that the scholarship recipient can cover the following concepts, derived from school and individual expenses2:
1.1. Registration or re-registration fee as appropriate at the Technological University of the Central Valleys of Oaxaca.
1.2. Quarterly financial support for individual expenses (transport, maintenance, and/or accommodation) and school expenses (credential, internship trips, books, internet, and/or digital tools) according to the duration of the Study Plan of each career.
NOTES
a. Payment of the scholarship will be made quarterly through an electronic transfer and/or check.
b. Payments will be made in Mexican pesos MXN.
