The University of the South Pacific has a huge impact on the country of Tuvalu. Actually, the university is owned by a number of different governments that works with the following countries:
- the Cook Islands
- Fiji
- Kiribati
- the Marshall Islands
- Nauru
- Niue
- Samoa
- the Solomon Islands
- Tokelau
- Tonga
- Tuvalu
- Vanuatu
These combined effort from all of these governments located in the Pacific Islands, leads students to experience maritime college at it’s utmost incredible power. As a matter of fact, the University of South Pacific has an estimated over count of 30,000 students in physical attendance at the university in 2017.
The Pacific Academic Excellence (PAE) scholarship awards looks to help a select number of students to earn a higher education at no extra expense to their own bank account. Additionally there are 15 awards available for students to apply for. They involve the Highest achiever in the Year 13 National Exam, students with the highest grade point average in Foundation Studies, and for students that are excelling in Arts, Commerce or Science.
Foundation studies include:
- Preliminary Arts – involves Language, History, Politics, Sociology, Technology
- Preliminary Business Studies – involves Accounting, Economics, Agriculture, Official Statistics
- Preliminary Science – involves Biology, Chemistry, Computing Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, Geography
Eligibility
- This is a merit based scholarship that is awarded in the same merit based format, this is a scholarship that will be judged by a panel – who will decide which students are deemed the best fit for the university.
- Applicants from Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshalls Islands, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu are eligible to apply. If a student is not a citizen on one of the above mentioned places, then they are not eligible.
- Applicants must be a current year 13 student.
- Applicants must have attempted or taken the Year 13 National Exam.
- Students that are interested in the more strict award that is attached to this scholarship option will need to become a member and take programs under the Foundation Streams.
Requirements
The biggest requirement is that students need to have a great grade point average as well as be a resident citizen of one of the above mentioned South Pacific places. If not, then that student is not deemed an eligible student for the University of the South Pacific.
Anyone interested should really read through the guidelines to see which aspects they are eligible for and if they can fill out a scholarship form that’s a more specific case based on their study subject or study programs.
Since this if strictly for undergraduates, there are certain courses that may be exempt from this scholarship option.

Reward – Extra Benefits
Any lucky applicant to receive this scholarship will have up to 3 years covered financially via tuition, monthly allowance, health insurance.
Accommodation will be covered up to 1200 FJP. A book allowance of up to 500 FJP per semester will be available. The monthly living allowance is an estimated 1000 FJP from February to November when college is in session. The 1000 FJP is equal to an estimate of around to $448 in USD.
Recipients are permitted to available airfare coverage as well.
Deadline Time Line
The essential deadline for this scholarship is presumed to be the actual deadline date for admissions. January 21, 2023 is considered the last time students can submit their admissions application along with any course changing forms and scholarships.
Students will need to show that they are planning on attending or recently selected to attend as a form of evidence.
Open Submission Time Frame Window
Students can start submitting in December of 2022, or the month before the last date comes into view for students to send in admissions. If a student does send in their application late, they will have to pay late admissions fees. So students should avoid that all together.

Annual or Renewable Scholarship Options
This is an annual scholarship that picks a number of recipients per academic year. While this is not deemed renewable, students will have this scholarship available for up to 3 years while they work on their undergraduate studies. So there is no need to renew their scholarship will another application the following year. The scholarship award will simply continue until the 3 full duration years is complete.
