Scholarship details
For the entry of September 2022, Northumbria University will be awarding 13 studentships for international students who will be commencing their Ph.D. degrees for the academic year of 2022-2023. The studentship will be intended for deserving students who can demonstrate their academic excellence and leadership skills.

One Planet Ph.D. Scholarship
One Planet Ph.D. The scholarship aims to provide and support students with a training environment that will develop their innovations and transformative ways of learning and working. The scholarship will be offered in 3 and a half years with living expenses coverage to help lessen the financial burden of international students to further their education and be committed to their professional goals.
One Planet ensures not only to develop the graduates with the required skills they may be needed but also offer a variety of core group activities to develop the best group experiences, skills, and student experiences. Producing more future leaders and independent researchers and scientists.

Eligibility
All international students will be able to participate in the scholarship application as long as they meet the eligibility requirements of the university below:
- The interested students must have a first-class or 2.1 honor degree or equivalent in the relevant subject that they will be proposing for the Ph.D. projects.
- Must be an enthusiast for the research project.
- Independent thinking and work skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- International students who have followed the UKRI announcement that introduce the UKRI international policy of 30$ agreements to pay the international fee difference for all international students who accept DTP.
Language Requirements
For applicants whose first language is not English, you must meet the university’s minimum results for general and partial results for research programs. An IELTS test score equivalent to 6.0 to 6.5 test scores will be accepted, here is the list of the following English Language Test that can be recognized or accepted:

However, the University will also be accepting some specific qualifications in different countries and must meet the appropriate level for completion. Applicants to work-related doctoral programs should consider that with relevant practical experience according to the university’s work-related doctoral framework and/or appropriate evidence of ongoing professionalization, 150 credit points may be credited towards their existing master’s degree.
Application Process
Students can take admission to the research degree program of the university and complete the application through an online portal provided by Northumbria University. Interested applicants are required to submit the necessary documents that will support their application to be considered for the studentship. Research proposal
Submitting a research proposal is one of the most important things in applying for a studentship program. The research proposal will be utilized to match with the supervisor and be more prepared in the Ph.D. level research.
The research proposal is required to be submitted in 1000 words that explain the student’s area of research. Keep in mind that the students who have specific research vacancies are also required to submit their research proposals that expand on the description of the proposed projects. Here are the elements that must be outlined in the research proposal:
- Objectives on what you wanted to explore in your main research.
- Rationale, that explains the importance of the research that also demonstrates the need, and identifies the main field literature.
- Methodology, on how well you carry out the research project.
- Timeline, the plans, and time to do the research
- Literature
It is important to include how will you intend to complete your Ph.D. Degree at the university.
Scholarship Deadline
The deadline to submit all applications will be until January 24, 2022, all incomplete applciation will not be considered for the studentship. All results will be released on March 2022.
The deserving students will be contacted by the university through their email regarding the proceeding of their interview schedules. Undertaking the interview can be conducted on a face-to-face, video conference, or via Skype interview. A successful interview will be in normal results that will be a written letter provided by Northumbria University.
Scholarship Benefits
The 13 deserving international students wil be awarded a full-tuition fee and a living stipend allowance of up to £15,609. The award will be until 3.5 years and will be offered annually by the university. A list of 63 projects will be available to every international student who wil be commencing their Ph.D. degree for the academic year of 2022-2023.
