State scholarships can cover a range of available subject field studies that are considered high-quality outreach scholarships. Essentially, the subject fields that are in high demand will receive more scholarships the following academic school year.
As of right now, 2022 did not showcase research-specific scholarships.

Eligibility
- When it comes to academic studies for international students who have yet to earn a degree – should apply for the education and science scholarships that are without a certified teaching certificate.
- International teachers will see the list above where certain countries may apply to earn a higher degree or reach post doctorate status in education while studying in Latvia.
- Latvia citizens are not allowed to apply for Latvia State Scholarships.
- This is an automatic scholarship as long as the student is from one of the list countries and has secured or been invited to attend an accredited Latvia university.

Requirements
A big requirement that students would need includes a student visa. Any international student who intends to travel outside of their own country to study, will need to obtain a student visa.
Another big requirement that students should look for, this the country list that has an agreement with Latvia already between the study and research sectors. For this, students will be able to see if they are automatically eligible for a Latvia State Scholarship.
How to Apply
The best way to apply is by securing an invitation and being admitted to a Latvia university. From there students will be able to obtain a student visa, which should be obtained at least 3 months in advance.
Afterwards, students will be able to go to the original website link to look for state scholarships that are available.
Reward – Extra Benefits
The reward for this scholarship is a full-ride tuition coverage that will cover tuition which will be paid to the university. That is the payment will go towards the student’s university that will need to acquire the full tuition payment.
At times there is the available factor where the student can receive more funding if needed.
Student Visa
Since this scholarships is for international students only, this means all international students will need to receive a student visa.
A student visa is to ensure that the student can study for the full academic term in Latvia.
Open Submission Window Time Frame
The open submission window time frame is in accordance with any accredited Latvia university’s deadline and open submission window scale.
Students would need to know their university deadline time scale, such as financial deadline to pay off tuition and more.
Deadline Time Line
The deadline time lines work in unison with any accredited Latvia university. Here are a few examples:
- Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies – deadline is December 1, 2022.
- University of Latvia – deadline is July through August 2023.
- Daugavpils University – deadline is June 20, 2023 for Southern and Western Asia, Africa – while the rest of the world is on June 27, 2023.
Annual or Renewable Scholarship Options
The Latvia state scholarships are an annual option for students. There are options for students who which to renew and re-state their scholarship options which offers a renewable option.
