About the Scholarship Provider:
The foundations of Aalto University are shared principles of responsibility, courage, and collaboration among its students and faculty. The university is known for its excellent research, education, and influence. We find solutions to global problems by bringing together talented people from many fields, including science, art, technology, and business. The most prestigious educational institution in Finland is Aalto University. It is one of the major universities in Finland, boasting a total of six schools, close to 12,000 full-time degree students, and 4,000 faculty and staff employees. AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS are the three prestigious accreditations that the university possesses; this is a distinction that just one percent of universities throughout the world can claim.
Aalto University has a strong focus on the future while simultaneously building on the combined legacy of three prestigious universities that spans more than 300 years. A merger in 2010 between the Institution of Art and Design Helsinki, which had been established in 1849, the Helsinki School of Economics, which had been formed in 1904, and the Helsinki University of Technology resulted in the creation of the university (established 1871). At Aalto University, science and art are taught alongside business and technology, creating a synergy that is unparalleled anywhere else in the world. The university contributes to the strengthening of Finland’s competence base and the creation of conditions that are conducive to innovations, economic growth, employment, and overall wellbeing, both now and in the future.
The famed Finnish architect, designer, and businessman Alvar Aalto is being honored by having his name bestowed to this educational institution. The accomplishments of Aalto in the fields of technology, economics, and art serve as illustrative examples of the spirit of integrated knowledge that forms the basis of Aalto University. Alvar Aalto is a well-known alumnus of what was then known as the Helsinki University of Technology. He also played an important role in the design of a significant portion of the main campus of the university, which is located in Otaniemi.
The primary campus of Aalto University may be found in the Finnish city of Espoo, which is included in the Greater Helsinki metropolitan area. The heart of the campus is a park that is more than half a century old; Alvar Aalto was responsible for the urban planning of the school, and individual buildings on the campus were created by Alvar Aalto and other renowned Finnish architects.
