Living in Norway has a reputation for being expensive, but studying in Norway may not be as expensive as you think! Completing a college degree is considered an expensive undertaking and tuition fees usually make up the majority of the cost. This is not the case in Norway, where public funding guarantees free education for both Norwegian and international students.
Most Norwegian state universities and colleges are publicly funded, and the Norwegian government considers access to higher education for all to be an important part of Norwegian society. Therefore, as a general rule, Norwegian public institutions do not charge tuition fees. This also applies to international students, no matter which country you come from.
In Norway Students will be required to pay a semester fee of around NOK 300-600 ($50-100) each semester (varies)
Cost of living
Living expenses in Norway are higher than in many other countries, and you have to pay for your own books/teaching materials. Regarding living in Norway, the State Educational Loan Fund estimates that the average cost of students is NOK 9,000 per month (approximately EUR 1,000).
Although expenses vary from person to person, this estimate is expected to cover room and board, clothing, transportation, medical and dental care, and other necessities.
