Scholarship Eligibility
Interested International students must meet the eligibility criteria of the scholarship before proceeding with the application.
- The Central South University scholarship is open to non-Chinese citizens who have no criminal records and are in good health.
- To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet certain age and education requirements. For Bachelor’s degree programs, applicants should be 18 to 25 years old and have a high school degree or equivalent. For Master’s degree programs, applicants should be 18 to 35 years old and have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. For Doctoral degree programs, applicants should be 18 to 40 years old and have a Master’s degree or equivalent. Applicants under the age of 18 must be at least 16 years old with an eligible guardian living in China.
- Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must obtain a minimum score of 260 in HSK4 for science and engineering programs, and 200 in HSK5 for arts, social science, and medical programs. Applicants for English-taught programs must obtain a minimum score of 6 in IELTS or 85 in TOEFL. Applicants who cannot meet the language requirements must complete a one-year preparatory course in the Chinese language and meet the HSK requirement before starting their programs. Exemptions apply to applicants whose first language or the official language of their country is Chinese or English or those who have completed a degree program in Chinese or English.

Application Process
The application can be accessed in an online portal provided by the university. Students must create an account to gain access to the portal. Forms should be complete including the personal information required by the university.
After the completion of the application and submitted required materials, the scholarship committee wil be reviewing all application and second step will be an initial review and academic review of the applicants. Relevant schools will perform a comprehensive academic assessment of applicants to evaluate their academic background, scientific research skills, and potential for innovation.

The application fee is non-refundable, and submitted materials will not be returned regardless of admission results. The majority of candidates will be admitted based on their application materials.
