International Students are eligible for the Global Korea Scholarship, which is funded by the Korean government. Undergraduate, postgraduate, and graduate-level programs in the field of All Subjects offered in South Korean universities are eligible for the award. The scholarship has an open deadline.
About the Scholarship:
One of the few fully supported scholarships for students to South Korea that does not require a TOEFL or IELTS certificate.
Furthermore, the scholarship covers a wide range of majors taught at prestigious Korean universities. Please keep in mind that the application deadlines for the Korean Bachelor’s Scholarship and the Master’s and Ph.D. scholarships are completely different.
Through education, the Korean Government Scholarship aspires to enhance international relations between countries. The Korean government awards roughly 220 undergraduate and 1080 postgraduate scholarships each year. The Korean government provides financial and logistical help to awardees, as well as a free academic year to learn Korean.
International students pursuing BS, MS, and doctorate degrees can now apply online for the fully-funded Global Korea Scholarships 2022-2023 session.
The Korean Government Scholarship has been renamed the Global Korean Scholarship (GKS) 2022. All students who apply and are selected for this scholarship program will receive an undergraduate or bachelor’s degree, as well as an associate’s degree. Almost all South Korean colleges participate in the Global Korea Scholarship program.
In this Global Korea Scholarship program, there are a total of 220 GKS scholarships available for international students.
The Global Korea Scholarship is intended to help students learn more about Korea. They are providing international students with the opportunity to pursue academic degrees at Korea’s higher educational institutions, enhancing international education exchange and deepening mutual goodwill between Korea and participating countries.
In 2010, the programs were merged and branded as the Global Korea Scholarship, and the name was modified to GKS (Global Korea Scholarship).
The Korean government has invited 125 international students from 67 different nations to study in Korea for a bachelor’s degree. Any candidate must successfully complete the first screening process provided by the Korean Embassy in his or her place of origin in order to be selected as a GKS recipient.

Applicants who are awarded a Korean Scholarship will receive the following perks during their study year. After being converted from South Korean Won, the amounts are reported in US dollars.
- Tuition fees in Korean universities are fully covered.
- A one-year free preparatory year to learn the Korean language.
- Tickets for travel to and from Korea.
- A monthly compensation of approximately $800.
- A one-time monthly settlement allowance of about $175.

- The expense of thesis printing.
- A monetary award upon successful completion of the scholarship.
- Providing financial assistance to research students.
Eligibility for Scholarship
- Applicants, as well as their father and mother, must be nationals of their own country.
- Korean nationals are not eligible to apply.
- Applicants must be citizens of one of the scholarship-eligible countries.
- You must be in decent physical condition.
- Maximum age for undergraduate studies is 25 years, and for graduate studies, it is 40 years.
- Prior to coming to South Korea, they must have completed or be on track to complete their present educational stage.
- A minimum average grade rate of 80% is required.
- Applicants cannot apply if they have previously studied in South Korea, with the exception of high achieving KGSP students.
- Must satisfy other requirements, if any.”
- It is not required for applicants to have an English language certificate to apply for the scholarship
Documents requirements
Every document must be translated into one of two languages: English or Korean. In addition, two letters of recommendation must be submitted. Recommendation letters must be sealed and sent to the embassy or university in an envelope

Two letters of recommendation are required.
- A scholarship agreement that has been signed.
- A copy of your diploma and transcript.
- A document establishing the applicant’s identity and nationality, as well as the father and mother’s nationalities, such as a birth certificate or family card.
- Certificate of English language proficiency (optional).
- Copies of publications or research papers that have been published. (Optional)
- A copy of the passport (optional).
Application Procedure
- Look at the courses offered by South Korean universities.
- Go over the terms and conditions of the scholarship.
- Prepare and translate the documents that are requested.
- Compose your letter of purpose.
- Obtain recommendation letters.
- Complete the Korean scholarship application form.
- Submit an application to the Korean Embassy in your country.
- Alternatively, you can apply directly to the university.

Note
- All documents submitted by candidates must be written in Korean or English.
- Original copies of all application documents are required. If an applicant is required to submit photocopied documents, the photocopies must be notarized, apostilled, or receive consular confirmation before being submitted.
- NIIED will not return any of the documents it receives.
- The checklist on the first page of the application forms must be followed when submitting the application materials.
- The top right corner of each required document must be numbered and labeled.
- Any application that is incomplete will be rejected.
- Applicants who are expected to graduate at the time of application must provide proof of graduation.
Any application that is not complete will be rejected.
- Applicants who are scheduled to graduate within the next year must present a certificate stating their projected graduation date.
- Two different recommenders must write the recommendation letter.
- The letter of reference must be sealed in an envelope and signed on the back of the envelope by the recommenders.
- Photocopies of awards and certificates are permitted.
- Documents issued by the government must be used as proof of citizenship.
- Applicants for the Embassy Track must provide one set of original documents as well as three sets of photocopied documents.
- Applicants for the University track must provide one set of original application materials.
Admission deadline:
The deadline for application range from one university to the next and from one embassy to the next. However, the deadline of the scholarship is Open.
5 years for a bachelor’s degree, plus 1 year of Korean language study. 4 years for an associate’s degree, including 1 year of Korçan language.
