The American University in Cairo Fellowships 2022 are available to international students pursuing master’s and doctoral degrees. These fellowships cover all tuition and fees, as well as medical insurance, a monthly stipend, student housing, and a laptop computer.
The TLG fellowship program is a collaboration between the US Department of State’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA/AC) and AUC. Through organized graduate study and research that furthers the professionalization of emerging leaders and proposes local solutions to shared problems in the MENA region, TLG provides academically qualified and economically deserving students with the professional qualifications and experience needed to advance knowledge and contribute to the achievement of socially relevant outcomes.

Cairo, Egypt, is a dynamic city rich in culture, with a juxtaposition of ancient history and modern metropolis. Kent State students can take unique courses at The American University in Cairo for an academic year, semester, or summer term, such as Hieroglyphics, Islamic Law, Cinema in Egypt and the Arab World, Languages of the World, Migration and Refugee Movements in the Middle East and North Africa, and Contemporary Security Issues in the Middle East, among many others. Courses are taught in English, but students can learn Arabic if they wish. In your spare time, visit the Pyramids of Giza, the Mosque of Ibn Tulun, the Valley of the Kings, or Mount Sinai, as public transportation and trains are readily available. Students will live in fully furnished on-campus residence halls at The American University in Cairo, with the option of a single room, a double room, or a studio apartment. Residence halls also have a service point and receptionist available 24 hours a day, a community lounge, a kitchenette, computer labs, study spaces, and emergency medical services. High-speed WiFi, central air conditioning and heating, complimentary self-service laundry, and complimentary room cleaning kits are also available to students. In addition, bed linens are provided. Many food outlets/supermarkets, academic buildings, sports facilities, and campus shuttle bus stops are all within walking distance of AUC residence halls.

Eligibility for Scholarship
Applicants for the Tomorrows Leaders Graduate Fellowship Program must meet the following requirements:
- English is a required language.

- Comply with AUC’s graduate admission requirements.
- Proven academic ability, with a bachelor’s degree and a minimum overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English.
- Demonstrate maturity, flexibility, and leadership potential through extracurricular activities, recommendations, and interviews.
- Financial necessity.
- The fellowship is granted for two years, in addition to any academic English language remedial courses that may be required, with a semester-by-semester review for satisfactory academic performance.
