About the Scholarship Provider:
The University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, is a dynamic institution that draws students and teachers from all over the world. The University of Manitoba places a premium on problem-solving. Whether they are current students, researchers, or graduates, all those involved in education and research have something special to contribute. Multiple perspectives define novel ideas and add to vital dialogues on urgent issues including human rights, global health, and climate change. This is the point where action and imagination meet. The first university in Western Canada, the Institution of Manitoba, was established in the province of Manitoba in 1877. The Métis Nation, the Anishinaabeg, the Cree, the Ojibwe, the Dakota, and the Dene have all called this area home at various points in history. In addition to being the sole university in Manitoba, the University of Manitoba has earned a national reputation as a top research institution. There are around 29,000 college and university level students and over 145,000 alumni from over 140 countries.
The University of Manitoba is committed to the public good through generating, preserving, disseminating, and using knowledge. Everyone, not just residents of Manitoba or Canada, but everyone everywhere. The university aspires to become one of the best in the world by fostering innovative approaches to research and scholarship as well as pedagogy that are enriched by Indigenous perspectives. Students, faculty, and administration must all share a passion for excellence if the school is to reach its potential. Academic freedom, accountability, collegiality, equity and inclusion, excellence, innovation, integrity, respect, and sustainability are the tenets upon which the University of Manitoba makes its decisions. Students at the University of Manitoba are encouraged to think critically and creatively, and are given the latitude to strive for academic and personal achievement. Students will be able to put their academic and personal development experiences to good use no matter what they do after high school. The future officially begins today. The majority of the graduate school’s offerings are for master’s and doctoral degrees. The university provides students with options from over a hundred different majors. Students can pick from over a hundred different service-learning, internship, co-op, and exchange programmes in over 35 different countries.
Graduate students at the University of Manitoba are the future of government at all levels. They contribute to the province’s economic development by sharing their expertise and inspiring new ideas. The annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition is where graduate students showcase their research. Students are required to give presentations on their research to the general audience in no more than three minutes.
The best way to help students study is to give them access to the most modern resources available. The ancient buildings that have come to define the Fort Garry site over the past century are being lovingly cared for while state-of-the-art upgrades are being made to facilitate ground-breaking discoveries. In 2015, the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation made the University of Manitoba its permanent home. Two of the group’s primary objectives are reconciliation and the defence of the truth about residential schools.
