Ineligible Fields for the Master’s Degree Scholarship
- Master from the School of Medicine
- Master in Sciences and Practices of Education
- Master of Law (with some exceptions)
- Master of Science in Physical Education and Sport Didactics
- Master of Science in Health Sciences
- Master of Science in Sustainable Management & Technology
- All MASs (3rd cycle and Further Education programs)
There will be special exceptions for the Master of Law. Keep in mind that additional requirements will be needed for the students who will be admitted to the Master of Psychology. International students are required to be accepted to the master’s program in psychology in their home country which is awarded on their bachelor’s degree.

Scholarship Eligibility
Before proceeding with the application the students must meet the eligibility criteria of the scholarship program.
- The applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree equivalent to a foreign university degree that is recognized as equivalent to a Swiss university bachelor’s degree, before starting the master’s program at the University of Lausanne (UNIL)
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate their academic excellence and stand out for exceptional achievements and academic performances during their previous degree.
- Exhibit language proficiency of at least C1 on the European Language Portfolio scale. This is required either in the English or French Language, depending on the language of instruction for your chosen study program.
- Interested applicants must not be enrolled or currently registered at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) in any other master’s degree program.
- Must not be admitted in an ineligible program for the master’s degree at UNIL.
- There will be no age limit for the scholarship program, however, students from countries with visa restrictions and having a higher age at the time of application may affect the possibility of obtaining a student visa. It is important to check the Swiss embassy or consulate in your home country submitting the application, the consulate can provide information regarding age and qualifications that can impact the visa application.
Application Process
Eligible applicants can apply via the admission office for the chosen degree at UNIL.
- The Master’s Scholarship application form also serves as an application for admission to the chosen Master’s program and UNIL registration, eliminating the need for a separate application to the Admission Office (SII) at UNIL.
- Candidates can also complete their application in an online portal provided by the university.
- Keep in mind that it is important to check the important list of materials or documents needed to complete the application process.
- The application that has been sent through email and has incomplete application material will not be considered and will be automatically rejected.
- For applicants who are currently pursuing their degree, the application must include all available transcripts of records. Must be able to provide a complete detailed description of their remaining course until they obtain their degree.
- For application who have completed their degree but haven’t received their diploma yet must submit an official certificate of completion.
Application Deadline
The deadline to complete and submit the application is until November 1, 2023.
Scholarship Awards
Succesful applicants will receive a monthly stipend amounting to up to CHF 1,600 and exception to a tuition fees which will be depending on the amount offered by the university.
