The Funiber Scholarships are a financial aid program offered by the Ibero-American University Foundation (FUNIBER). Scholarship Provider
The scholarship provider is the Ibero-American University Foundation (FUNIBER), which was created in 1997 to spread and share European and Ibero-American knowledge. FUNIBER has its roots in experiences and university developments in the area of cooperation and development carried out within the framework of UNHWIN-UNESCO Chairs and Networks and European Community Programs. FUNIBER has continued to expand creating an academic and professional network in more than 30 countries (see headquarters). More than 60 European, U.S. and Latin American universities, enterprises and organizations are part of this network (see sponsors and partners).
Eligible Applicants
The eligible applicants are students from all over the world who want to study specializations, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorates degrees in any of the educational programs supported by FUNIBER, at a distance (online) and on-campus. The allocation of the scholarship will depend on the profile of the applicant and they are assigned by a scholarship evaluation committee depending on the number of applications that enter each foundation headquarters (located in more than 30 countries) versus the places available in each one of them. The scholarships are limited and depend on the assignment of the universities in agreement.
Host Country
The host country is the country where the university or institution that offers the educational program is located. FUNIBER supports programs from more than 60 European, U.S. and Latin American universities, enterprises and organizations. Some of the host countries are Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Germany, UK, USA, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Paraguay, Venezuela, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Equatorial Guinea.
Scholarship Value
The scholarship value varies depending on the educational program, the mode, the host country, and the applicant’s profile. The scholarship can cover from 20% to 80% of the total cost of the program. The scholarship does not cover travel expenses, accommodation, or other expenses that are not related to the program. The scholarship is not refundable or transferable.
Level and Field of Study
The level of study can be specialization, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree, depending on the program chosen by the applicant. The field of study can be any of the areas offered by the educational programs supported by FUNIBER, such as engineering, architecture, health, nutrition, sports, education, environment, tourism, business, communication, humanities, languages, and others.
How to Apply
The application process is easy and can be done online or in person. The steps are as follows:
- Fill out the online application form or visit the closest FUNIBER office and request the application form.
- Attach the required documents, such as a copy of your identity document, academic transcripts, curriculum vitae, and a motivation letter.
- Wait for the confirmation of receipt of your application and the evaluation of your profile by the scholarship committee.
- Receive the notification of the scholarship award and the instructions to finalize your enrollment.

The countries that can apply are all the countries where FUNIBER has a presence or a partnership with a university or institution. These countries are more than 30 and include Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Germany, UK, USA, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Paraguay, Venezuela, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Equatorial Guinea.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria are the following:
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent for bachelor’s programs, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent for master’s programs, and a master’s degree or equivalent for doctorate programs.
- Have a good academic record and a strong motivation to study the chosen program.
- Have a sufficient level of the language in which the program is taught (Spanish, English, Portuguese, Italian, or French).
- Have access to a computer and an internet connection for online programs or be able to travel to the host country for on-campus programs.
- Comply with the specific requirements of each program and university or institution.
Scholarship Deadline
The scholarship deadline is not fixed, as the applications are accepted any time of the year. However, it is advisable to apply as soon as possible, as the scholarships are limited and depend on the availability of places in each program and country. The applicants are encouraged to check the start dates of the programs they are interested in and submit their applications at least two months before the start date.
