These scholarships will cover all the costs associated with your studies, such as registration fees, tuition fees, exam fees, books, and travel expenses related to your education.

GAST is a company that was founded in Pretoria, South Africa in 1961. Initially, they produced waterproof linings for dams and reservoirs, but they have expanded to offer many other services in the civil and construction industries. They have their roots in the chemical business and produce specialty compounds for the industrial and cosmetic markets.

Although GAST is based in South Africa, they operate all over the world, including Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Mozambique, Madagascar, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Angola, Ethiopia, Mali, Ghana, and Cote d’Ivoire.

GAST awards scholarships based on academic merit, and they are renewed each year depending on the student’s academic performance. If a candidate is selected for a scholarship, they are required to work for the company for the same amount of time as the scholarship was awarded (excluding periods of in-service training).

Level/Field of Study

The Gast Scholarship is available to individuals who are high-achieving students and who are interested in becoming part of the developing West team in the future.

Gast offers bursaries in the following areas of research for those pursuing BEng, BSc, or B-Tech credentials:

– Building/Construction Management
– Civil Engineering
– Industrial Engineering
– Mechanical Engineering
– Mining Engineering
– Y Calculation

Host Nationality

This scholarship is to be taken in South Africa.

Eligible Nationality

The scholarship is available to all South Africans, whether they are graduate or postgraduate students, who wish to study in South Africa.

The Scholarship Worth

The GAST Scholarship in South Africa for 2023 covers the following expenses:

  • Enrollment and tuition fees
  • Examination fees
  • Prescribed textbooks
  • Travel expenses

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by GAST and asked to attend an appointment and participate in industry-related assessments.

After graduation, scholarship recipients are required to work for GAST for one year for each year of scholarship they received.

Who is eligible for the GAST 2023 scholarship?

To apply for the GAST Scholarship, applicants must meet certain minimum requirements before their application can be considered. If an applicant does not meet all of these requirements, their application is unlikely to be accepted. The requirements are:

– Be a South African citizen or permanent resident.
– Have completed high school with Mathematics and Science as part of their curriculum.
– Plan to study full-time in one of the areas of research listed above, or be currently studying in one of these disciplines.
– Attend a recognized technology school or university in South Africa.
– Achieve and maintain a minimum average of 70 percent in their studies.
